미술 교육에서 ‘다양한 감각’ 활용의 과학적 근거에 대한 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구는 미술 교육에서 다양한 감각 활용이 지니는 과학적 의미를 분석함으로써 미술 교육 적 시사점을 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 현행 7종의 미술교과서와 지도서에서 감각 활용이 어떻게 적용되고 있는지에 대한 사례를 분석하고, 신경생리학과 인지과학에 근 거하여 감각의 의미와 특성을 고찰한다. 연구 결과, 첫째 현행 미술교과서(지도서)에서 감각 을 오감으로 국한하는 것에 대한 과학적 근거가 미흡하다는 점에서 다양한 감각으로 진술하 고, 기존의 오감 외에 고유수용성 감각과 전정 감각을 포함할 필요가 있다는 점, 둘째 다양한 감각의 활용을 통해 얻고자 하는 목적으로서 사물의 새로운 측면에 대한 발견뿐만 아니라 보 다 적정한 미술적 인식의 획득을 전제로 하여야 한다는 점, 셋째 미술교육에서 다양한 감각 을 활용하는 원리에는 상호 보완성의 원리, 능동적 탐구의 원리, 감각-지각-인지의 동시성 원 리, 내향성 감각 원리를 선정할 수 있다는 점, 넷째 다양한 감각의 활용을 체험 영역에서 뿐 만 아니라 표현 영역과 감상 영역으로 확대할 필요가 있다는 점이 도출되었다.

영문 초록

In this study, I explored scientific foundation of multi-modal senses in art education. As of now, there is no persuasive explanation of why 5 senses are to be adapted and how are to be organized in the context of art education. In terms of scientific characteristics, sensation can be extracted as integrity, socialization and active touch. Also especially on the basis of embodied cognition theory, sensation has cognitive characteristics as two way transmission of sense to cognition, perceptual symbolization and sense-cognition simultaneity in work. With these scientific findings of sensation, implications of multi-modal senses in art education can be draw as follows. First, 5 senses which are dealt as sole concept of sensation have to be adjusted as 7 senses including proprioceptive and vestibular sense. Proprioceptive and vestibular sense are the one which modulate internal signal such as muscle and orientation, with which body movement to be controled. Second, when considering the characteristics of sense, purpose of art education using multi-modal senses is to be diverse not limited as finding new ideas. Third, principle of multi-modal senses in art education can be suggested as principle of complementation, principle of active exploration, principle of simultaneity in sense to cognition, principle of internal sensation. These principles can be adapted into art education when using multi-modal senses. Forth, multi-modal senses can be expanded into expressive and appreciative activity beyond experience domain in art class. Especially, perceptual symbolization of Basalou layed important foundation that multi-modal senses are intertwined with cognition, not as a pre-stage of cognition.
