국문 초록

산업화 이래 인간의 일상적 경험의 대부분을 특징짓는 것은 분절， 파편， 구획， 분리라는 것에 듀이는 주목한다. 우리의 행위는 우리의 감각과도 우리의 생각과도 융합되어 있지 못하며， 우리의 현재는 과거에서의 유감과 미래의 염려에 매어 현재 이 순간순간 여러 갈래로 분산된 채 진정 전 존재로서의 살아있음을 실감하지 못한다는 것이다. “우리는 무엇을 보아도 아무 느낌이 없이 본다. 들어도 그저 의미 없는 소리에 그칠 뿐이다 .... 우리는 감각을 쓰되 그저 말초적 자극을 위해서 일뿐， 깊은 통찰에 관심을 기울이려 하지 않는다'(Dewey， 1980: 2:7). 이렇게 생명기운을 상실하고 기계적인수준으로 전락한 현대인의 일상을 당연한 것으로 여길 때， 우리의 경험 안에 아름다움의 체험은 드물게 나타나는 아주 신비롭고 특별한 무엇으로 간주된다. 그러나 사실은 대부분 기계적이고 산만한 일상 경험이 아름다움의 뿌리인 생명성을 황폐화 시키는 것은 물론， 그것은 기술문명사회라는 삶의 조건에서 생겨나는 비정상적인 상태라는 것이다.

영문 초록

Point is that any and all interior dimensions lost legitimacy. Modernity did not reject sprit per se. Modernity rejected interior per se, and spirit was simply one of the numerous casualties. In order to proceed effectively on our quest, we therefore need to back up prior to collapse of Kosmos. Sprit could survive through artistic activities. Art can be an one solution. Art can help us be in genuine Kosmos reducing material brain to subjective mind, reducing technical steering problems to intersubjective value, reducing the empirical mind to real eco-nature, reducing lifeless mind to compassion. In short, and in all ways, reducing ITs world to I and WE world with spirit. The physical world does not exhaust reality, however, artists sense something more. Although rooted in the material sphere, an artwork may transport the beholder to an ideal realm. While some artistic subscribe to the notion of art as revelation of the invisible and transcendental, others cry for a discovery of that which perceivable and close at hand. To discover something about reality is to discover something about oneself. The arts do both. They open up a dimension of reality which is otherwise hidden, and They open up our own being for receiving this reality. Only art can do this. science and philosophy canpot. The artist brings to our senses and through them to our whole being something of depth of our world and of ourselves, something of the mystery of being.
