영문 초록

In order to collect the basic data concerned with the characteristic pattern s of suicidal att empts and to establish preventive measures of adolescent suidides, this study was intended to examine 320 suicidal attempters among Korean adolscents, aged from 12 through 21, carried in the Dong AIl-bo from 1946 to 1980, using census method. The number of cases put in to the analyses were 320 including 128 boys and 192 girls. The collected data were computerized by CDC-174 at KIST , using SPSS program and statistically analysed by Chi-square method. The results were as follows. 1. The suicidal cases were more frequent in female. The male-female ratio was 1 : 1.5. The peak age of frequency was 19 (21.6%). 2. Adolescent suicides were related to social change and were reported more frequently in post-war period (18.83 cases/yr.) th an in other periods. 3. Adolescent suicides were related to occupational status, and were more common in those who were not students. But in the cases of male, suicides were more common among students (male 44.5%, fem ale 37.0%) and deliquents (male 4 .7% , female 1.6%) than in female significantly . 4. Suicidal rates were closely related to marital status, especially more frequent in the married group than in the non-married group in female cases. 5. Suicidal articles of adolescents were located at left-bottom, consisting of one-column article s， and it has the tendency that the higher the age, the more they were located there. 6. Suicides were committed frequently in May of month , on Monday of the day of week, between 7-9 p .m . in a day. And these trends were more common in female adolescents. 7. The most frequent means employed by adolescents was drugs, and adolescents attempted suicide at home commonly. 8. The primary reasons given were emotional problems such as pessimistic attitude toward their life .
