본 연구는 다섯 가지 쟁점 해석을 통해 므나 비유를 바르게 이해해 보려는 시도이다. 첫째, 문맥을 고려하지 않고, 므나 비유를 예수의 재림과 상관없이 해석하는 이들이 있다. 그러나 문맥은 하나님 나라가 당장에 임할 것이라고 오해한 제자들을 대상으로 한다는 것을 보여준다. 둘째, 마태복음에 나오는 달란트 비유의 평행 본문으로 므나 비유를 꼽는 이들이 있다. 그러나 두 비유 사이에는 최소한 열두 개의 차이점이 있다. 셋째, 귀인을 예수 그리스도로 보는 전통적인 견해에 반대하며, 므나 비유를 사회-경제학적 관점에서 해석하는 이들이 있다. 그들은 귀인의 심판 이미지가 예수의 자비로운 모습과 어울리지 않는다고 한다. 그러나 누가복음의 다른 재림 본문에는 어김없이 심판하시는 예수의 모습이 나온다(예. 눅 10:12; 16:19-31). 넷째, 열 므나를 남긴 종과 다섯 므나를 남긴 종 사이에 상의 차이가 없다고 하는 이들이 있다. 그러나 두 사람을 향한 칭찬이 분명히 다른데, 이는 성도가 누릴 영광의 차이를 말해준다. 다섯째, 받은 므나를 그대로 둔 세 번째 종이 예수의 자비로운 성품 때문에 심판받지 않았을 것이라 주장하는 이들이 있다. 그러나 앞서 말한 바와 같이, 누가복음은 예수의 자비도 말하지만, 다른 한편 그의 엄중한 심판도 언급한다. 요컨대, 므나 비유는 하나님 나라에 대한 제자들의 오해를 바로잡기 위한 비유다. 하나님 나라는 재림을 통해 완성된다. 그때까지 제자들은 예수께서 맡기신 일에 충성해야 한다.

영문 초록

This study attempts to rightly understand the Parable of the Minas through the interpretation of five issues. First, there are those who interpret the Parable of the Minas outside its context, unrelated to the second coming of Jesus. However, the context indicates that it addresses the disciples who misunderstand that the Kingdom of God is about to arrive. Second, some cite the Parable of the Talents in Matthew as a parallel text to the Parable of the Minas. However, there are at least twelve differences between the two parables. Third, there are those who oppose the traditional view of the nobleman as Jesus Christ and interpret the Parable of the Minas from a socio-economic perspective. They claim that the image of the nobleman’s judgment does not align with Jesus' merciful nature. However, other passages in Luke regarding the second coming consistently portray Jesus as a judge (e.g., Luke 10:12; 16:19- 31). Fourth, some argue that there is no significant difference between the servant who gained ten minas and the one who gained five. However, the distinct praises given to each clearly indicate differences in the glory that the saints will receive. Fifth, there are those who claim that the third servant would not be judged because of Jesus’ merciful character. Yet, as mentioned earlier, while Luke does speak of Jesus’ mercy, it also addresses His serious judgment. In summary, the Parable of the Minas serves to correct the disciples’ misunderstanding about the kingdom of God. The Kingdom will be completed through the second coming. Until then, the disciples must remain faithful to the tasks entrusted to them by Jesus.
