백제 초기 왕실은 扶餘氏인 온조-초고계와 優氏인 비류-고이계의 이원적 구조였다. 이들은 왕위계승을 둘러싸고 주변의 유력세력들과 함께 정변을 일으켰고, 왕실교체까지 단행했다. 백제가 연맹체의 맹주국으로 대두하기 시작한 것은 초고왕 대부터였다. 초고왕은 대방-미추홀 지역의 비류계인 우씨세력을 통합하면서 처음으로 연맹장의 지위를 차지했다. 이후 고이왕은 초고왕의 손자인 사반왕을 폐위시키고 비류계 왕계를 세웠다. 이 과정에서 고이왕은 眞氏세력의 군사력을 이용했으며, 왕위계승 과정의 문제점을 극복하고 왕권을 강화하기 위해 노력했다. 그러나 고이왕 이후 중국 군현과의 대외정책이 실패하면서 고이계 왕권은 동요하기 시작했다. 비류왕은 이 틈을 타서 解氏세력과 함께 정변을 주도하여 초고계 왕권을 회복시켰다. 하지만 고이계 세력을 완전히 장악하지 못한 결과 고이계인 계왕에게 왕위를 물려줄 수밖에 없었다. 이후 근초고왕은 정변을 통해 고이계 세력을 완전히 축출하고, 초고계 왕권을 확립하게 된다. 이와 같은 일련의 역사적 사실은 근초고왕 대 『書記』의 편찬단계에서 왕위계승의 정통성을 확보하기 위해 온조-초고계 중심으로 기록되었다. 이 과정에서 비류-고이계와 혈연 특히 부자관계 속에서 왕위가 계승된 형태로 정리되었다. 결과적으로 두 계통의 시조인 온조와 비류가 의제적 형제관계가 되어 건국전승이 만들어졌고, 이것이 바로 백제본기 초기기록의 원자료가 되었다.

영문 초록

The early royal family of Baekje was a dual structure of Buyeo clan Onjo-Chogo and Woo clan Biryu-Goi. They caused a political upheaval with the powerful forces around them over the succession to the throne, and as a result, they even carried out a change of royal family. King Chogo consolidated the Woo clan of the Daebang-Michuhol region and took the position of head of the federation for the first time. Afterwards, King Goi deposed King Saban, the grandson of King Chogo, and established the Biryu royal lineage. In this process, King Goi used the military power of the Jin clan, and tried to overcome the problems in the succession process and strengthen the royal authority. However, after King Goi, the failure of China's foreign policy with the county government began to shake the royal power of the Goi dynasty. King Biryu took advantage of this opportunity to lead a political upheaval with the Hae clan and restore the super-ancient kingship. However, as a result of not being able to completely control the Goi power, he had no choice but to hand over the throne to the King of Goi. Afterwards, King Geunchogo completely expelled the Goi forces through political change and established the power of the Chogo kingship. Such a series of historical facts were recorded in the Onjo-Chogo in order to secure the legitimacy of the succession to the throne in the process of compiling the 『Seogi』 during the reign of King Geunchogo. In this process, the throne was arranged in the form of succession in the Biryu-Goi lineage and blood ties, especially the father-son relationship. As a result, the founders of the two lineages, Onjo and Biryu, became brotherly brothers, and the founding tradition was created, which became the source material for the early records of the Baekjebongi.
