국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 자녀의 대학입시 준비과정에서 진로교육자 어머니로서 어떤 경험을 하는지, 그 과정의 갈등은 무엇이고 이를 어떻게 수용하고 조절해 나가는지를 자문화기술지를 통해 조명해 보는데 있다. 연구를 위해 수집된 자료는 기억회상자료, 일기장, SNS기록자료, 카카오톡 대화자료, 교사상담 및 문자 대화자료, 학교성적표 및 생활기록부자료, 입시설명회자료, 자녀와의 심층면담자료 등이다. 수집된 자료는 시간순으로 정리하고 이를 주제어 중심으로 코딩하여 범주화하였다. 연구결과를 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 비학군지에서 낮아진 자기효능감과 진로포부에 대해 아이의 의사를 존중한다고 하면서 방관하는 결과를 낳았다. 둘째, 고등학교 동안 진로목표의 변경이 어려운 입시과정에서 진로교육의 목표와 가치가 실현될 수 없었다. 셋째, 탐구의 질보다는 양이 중요한 생활기록부 만들기를 위해 전략과 의미 사이의 갈등을 경험하였다. 넷째, 전공을 버리고 명문대 진학이라는 차선의 선택에 대해 동조하였다. 다섯째, 사교육 일번지에서 재도전하려는 아이에게 진로교육자도 별수 없는 선택과 지원을 하게 되었다. 본 연구의 의의는 대학입시를 준비하는 과정이 하나의 통과의례로 쉽게 다루어지거나 수험생들이 겪는 경험을 개별적인 성장통으로만 간주되지 않도록 이 입시경험이 놓여진 사회적 맥락에 대한 진로교육자로서의 문제의식을 가지고 성찰하였다. 또한 수험생 어머니로서의 경험이 더 어렵고 열악한 상황 속에서 입시를 준비하고 있는 어머니들에게도 공명을 줄 수 있기를 기대하며 진로교육자로서의 제언들을 담았다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to shed light on the experience of a career educator mother in the process of preparing her child for college entrance examination, the conflicts in the process, and how they accept and manage them through autoethnography. The data collected for the study include memory recollections, diaries, social media records, KakaoTalk conversations, teacher counseling and text conversations, personal school record and biographies, admission listings, and in-depth interviews with her child. The collected data were organized in chronological order and categorized by coding them into themes. The results of the study are as follows. First, this resulted in the child ignoring the child’s lowered self-efficacy and career aspirations in a non-academic setting while saying that the child’s will was respected. Second, the goal and value as a career educator could not be realized in the entrance examination process where it is difficult to change the career goal during high school. Third, She experienced conflicts between strategy and meaning in order to make personal school record where quantity is more important than the quality of inquiry. Fourth, I sympathized with the suboptimal choice of dropping my major and going to a prestigious university. Fifth, for a child who wanted to try again in a private school, the career educator had little choice and supported. The significance of this study is that it reflects on the social context in which this entrance examination is placed so that the process of preparing for the college entrance examination is not easily treated as a rite of passage or the experiences of the examinees are not considered only as individual growing pains. It also includes suggestions as a career educator in the hope that the experience of being a mother of an examinee will resonate with mothers who are preparing for the entrance examination under more difficult circumstances.
