국문 초록

본고는 八友軒 趙普陽(1709~1788)의 생애와 시세계를 소개하고, 18세기 예천 지역에서 활동한 영남 남인의 문예 활동의 일면을 탐구하는 데 목적을 두었다. 조보양의 생애와 교유 관계를 소개하고, 『팔우헌집 』에 수록된 시의 양상을 개괄적으로 살피며 그의 다채로운 문예적 취향과 그 속에 내재된 그의 내면 의식을 살펴보았다. 『팔우헌집 』에 수록된 시들은 조보양이 문예적으로 다양한 시도를 하였으며, 문예창작에 대한 관심이 상당하였음을 보여준다. 다양한 시체를 시도하였으며, 고시 창작과 연작시 창작 등 자신의 문예적 역량을 발휘할 만한 시를 다수 짓기도 하였다. 이와 같은 多作과 다양한 시체 창작의 시도는 그의 문예지향적 시세계를 보여준다. 조보양은 오랜 시간 재야 문인으로서 살면서 자연에서 누리는 閑居의 흥취를 읊기도 하였지만 자신을 알아주지 못한다는 불우의식을 드러냈다. 그는 자신의 불우의식을 진솔하게 표출하기 위해 절구시나 율시와는 다른 시체를 활용하였으며, 전형적인 은일 의식을 드러낸 작품에서는 근체시를 택하여 자신의 생각과 감정을 효과적으로 표출하였다. 또한 조보양은 자국의 역사와 문화에 대한 관심을 악부체 5수를 통해 표출하였다. 이를 통해 그의 자주적 역사 의식의 일단을 확인할 수 있다. 자국의 역사를 소재로 하였다는 점이나 악부체 한시를 지었다는 점에서 그가 문예적으로 다양한 시도를 한 문인임을 확인시켜준다. 조보양의 시세계는 18세기 영남 남인으로서 드물게 다양한 시 창작을 시도하며 문예지향적 성격을 지닌다. 이를 통해 18세기 영남 남인의 문학 세계의 또 다른 일면을 확인할 수 있다는 점에서 그의 시세계가 지니는 의미가 크다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to introduce the life and poetry of Palwuheon Cho Bo-yang(八友軒 趙普陽; 1709-1788), which was previously insufficient, and to explore one aspect of the literary activities of Yeongnam Namin(political faction) who were active in the Yecheon region in the 18th century. This study introduces Cho Bo-yang's life and relationship, introduced the aspects of poetry contained in the 『Palwuheon Anthology』, and looks into his divers literary tastes and his inner consciousness inherent therein. The poems included in the 『Palwuheon Anthology』 show that Cho Bo-yeong's various attempts in literary-art and had considerable interest in literary creation. He attempted various poetry styles, and also wrote a number of poems that demonstrate his literary-art capabilities, the creation of classical Chinese poems and series poems. Such prolific works(多作) and attempts to create bodies show his literary-oriented poetry world. As Cho Bo-yang spent a long time living as an outsider writer, he would recite the pleasures of a secluded life(閑居) in nature, but he revealed his consciousness of disadvantage that he was not recognized. To honestly express his consciousness of disadvantage, he used a poetry style(詩體) that was different from Jeolgusi(絶句詩) or Yulsi(律詩), and in his works, which reveal his typical seclusion consciousness, he chose Geumchesi(近體詩) to effectively express his thoughts and emotions. Also, Cho Bo-yang expressed his interest in his country's history and culture through 5 poems in Akbuche(樂府體). Through this, this study can confirm part of his independent historical consciousness. In addition, in the sense that he wrote classical Chinese poetry based on his country's history or written in the form of Akbuche, it is confirmed that he is a writer who has made various literary-art attempts. The poetry world of Cho Bo-yang, as a member of Yeongnam Namin in the 18th century, rarely attempted to create his poems in diverse styles and had a literary-art-oriented character. In that another side of Yeongnam Namin's literary world in the 18th century can be seen through this, the meaning that his poetry world might have is significant.
