국문 초록

본 연구는 효과적인 비교과 프로그램의 운영을 위한 고민에서 시작되었다.A대학교 학부 유학생과 한국인 재학생을 위한 비교과 프로그램을 운영한 이전 학기의 사례를 통해 학부 유학생의 기본 의사소통 능력과 사회·문화적 적응 능력,학업 능력의 균형 있는 신장이 요구됨을 확인하였다.이에 기초적인 언어 능력과 사회·문화 이해 능력,학업 능력을 균형있게 향상시키기 위해BICS와CALP의 통합적 활동으로 프로그램 내용을 재설계하여 실제 운영한 결과를 제시하였다.프로그램 종료 시점에서 참여자들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 프로그램의 효과에 대한 검증을 진행하였다. 응답을 분석한 결과,본 프로그램은 학부 유학생의 대학 생활 적응과 한국 사회·문화이해에 도움이 되었고,의사소통 능력의 향상 및 한국어 말하기,읽기,쓰기,듣기 능력 향상에 도움이 된 점을 확인할 수 있었다.이러한 기초적 의사소통 능력의 강화는나아가 대학에서의 학업 수행에 긍정적으로 작용하여 학업 문식력 향상에 기여할 수있는 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 학부 유학생을 위한 비교과 프로그램의 개발과 운영,개선을 위한 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.또,교과와의 연계를 통해 프로그램의 내용 및 범주를확대 적용하여 다양한 측면에서 학부 유학생의 학업 문식력 신장을 도모할 수 있을 것이다.다만 특정 대학의 단기적 사례로 보다 많은 장기적 사례와 다양한 자료의 축적을 통해 후속 연구를 지속적으로 진행하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study began with the consideration of extracurricular program operation of A University. The previous semester's program confirmed that a balanced development of basic communication skills, socio-cultural adaptation skills, and academic abilities among undergraduate international students was required, and the process was re-designed as an integrated activity between BICS(Basic Interpersonal Communication Skills) and CALP(Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency). A survey conducted at the end of the program confirmed that this program helped undergraduate international students adapt to college life, understand Korean society and culture, and improve their communication, reading, writing, and listening skills. It was confirmed that the strengthening of these basic communication skills could have a positive effect on university students’ academic performance and further contribute to improving academic literacy. This study can be used as basic data for extracurricular programs for undergraduate international students. In addition, expanding the content and category of the program by linking the subject can help improve the academic literacy of undergraduate international students in various aspects. However, since this was a short-term case of a specific university, follow-up studies using longer-term cases should be conducted to accumulate practical data.
