‘독도교육’ 관련 연구의 성과와 향후 과제

국문 초록

‘독도교육’ 관련 연구는 20여 년의 짧은 역사에도 역사·지리·사회 등 폭넓게 이뤄졌다. 본 연구는 지금까지 연구를 가능한 한 집대성하여 현재까지의 성과와 그 속의 한계를 점검하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 그 결과 연구 동향과 향후 과제를 각각 과제를 두 가지로 정리할 수 있었다. 연구 동향의 첫째로는 독도교육 관련 연구 129편을 태동기·관심기·고조기·확산기 등 네 시기로 구분하였다. 둘째로는 독도교육이 다양한 국가를 대상으로 교과서 및 교육정책, 교육 동향, 영토교육, 독도활용교육으로 폭넓게 진행되었음을 확인하였다. 특히 한국 외에도 일본과 중국, 북한, 미국 그리고 한·일, 한·중, 남·북 등 국가별·국가관계별 등으로 다양한 관점이 제시되었다는 점에서 연구사적 의미가 적지 않다. 독도교육 과제의 첫째로는 독도교육은 영토교육에 초점을 맞춰 재정비되어야 하고 영토교육 전문가 양성을 위한 연구가 진행되어야 한다는 점이다. 둘째로는 독도교육 연구자들의 연구교류를 위한 학술대회의 개최 및 연구기관 협의회 등이 필요하다고 할 수 있다. 영토교육은 장기적 관점에서 이뤄져야 하는 만큼 그 과제 역시 구체적이어야 한다. 이를 위한 지속가능한 전문기관의 설립을 통해 한·일간 역사 인식의 변화까지 이끌어 냄으로써 국제 평화에 일조할 수 있기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

Dokdo education research has been conducted in a wide range of fields, including history, geography, and society, despite its short history of over 20 years. This study aims to summarize the research so far and to check the achievements and limitations of the research. Accordingly, the research trends can be summarized into two categories and the tasks can be summarized into two categories. First, 129 research papers related to Dokdo education can be divided into four periods: the beginning, the interest, the climax, and the spread. Second, it was confirmed that Dokdo education was widely conducted in various countries, such as textbooks and educational policies, educational trends, territorial education, and Dokdo utilization education. Especially, in terms of research history, it is not insignificant that various perspectives have been presented on a country-by-country and country-relationship basis, such as Japan, China, North Korea, the United States, and Korea-Japan, Korea-China, and North-South. third, Dokdo education should be reorganized with a focus on territorial education, and research should be conducted to foster territorial education experts. fourth, it is necessary to hold academic conferences and research institutions for the exchange of research among Dokdo education researchers. As territorial education should be carried out from a long-term perspective, the tasks should also be specific. I hope that by establishing a sustainable professional institution for this purpose, we will be able to contribute to international peace by leading changes in the historical understanding between Korea and Japan.
