국문 초록

본 연구는 초등학교 초임 시간강사의 교사 정체성에 대한 자문화기술지이다. 불안정한 고용 상태의 열등감에 빠진 초등학교 초임 시간강사가 질적 연구를 통해 자신과 자신을 둘러싼 관계와 소통하며 교사 정체성을 탐구하는 과정을 담고 있다. 성찰적 자문화기술지법을 통해 초등학교 초임 시간강사가 겪은 교직 문화에서 정체성의 혼란과 해소의 과정을 생생하게 드러내고자 하였다. 3차 코딩을 거친 결과로, 초등학교 초임 시간강사의 교사 정체성 탐구 과정을 ‘타인의 시선으로 나를 보기: 열등감 속의 교사’, ‘관계를 통해 나를 보기: 이름 있는 교사 되기’, ‘해방된 시선으로 나를 보기: 나만의 가치가 있는 교사’로 범주화하였다. ‘타인의 시선으로 나를 보기: 열등감 속의 교사’에는 초등학교 초임 시간강사로서 겪은 어려움과 열등감에서 비롯된 고민이 담겨있다. ‘관계를 통해 나를 보기: 이름 있는 교사 되기’에는 학생들과 관계를 맺으며 교사로서의 의미를 찾는 과정이 담겨 있다. ‘해방된 시선으로 나를 보기: 나만의 가치가 있는 교사’에는 나를 얽매던 것은 학생들의 시선이 아닌 나의 시선, 즉 내가 교사로서 스스로 요구하는 무의식적인 기준임을 깨닫고, 초등학교 초임 시간강사로서 경험의 가치를 인정하고 나만의 것으로 받아들여 훌륭한 교사가 되기 위해 노력을 다짐하는 과정을 담았다. 본 연구 결과는 수많은 초등학교 초임 시간강사들이 처음으로 학교 현장에 내던져졌을 때 희망을 잃지 않고 자기만의 가치를 찾아 교직의 꿈을 계속 좇아 성장할 수 있도록 안내하며, 시간강사를 위한 지침을 개발 시 기초가 되는 정보를 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

This research is a reflective auto-ethnography on identity of novice elementary school substitute teachers. It captures the process of substitute teachers, feeling a sense of inferiority due to the unstable employment situation, exploring their teacher identity through qualitative research, reflecting on themselves, and communicating with the relationships within the teaching culture context. After the third round of coding, the exploration process of teacher identity for elementary school substitute teachers was categorized into three themes: “Seeing Myself through the Eyes of Others: A Teacher in the Shadow of Inferiority,” “Seeing Myself through Relationships: Being a Teacher with a Name (an acknowledged teacher),” and “Seeing Myself with Liberated Perspective: A Teacher with Personal Value.” In “Seeing Myself through the Eyes of Others: A Teacher in the Shadow of Inferiority,” the journal contains the difficulties and concerns stemming from the sense of inferiority experienced as an elementary school part-time instructor. In “Seeing Myself through Relationships: A Teacher with a Name,” the process of establishing relationships with students and finding meaning as a teacher is explored. “Seeing Myself with Liberated Perspective: A Teacher with Distinctive Value” reflects the realization that what constrained the teacher was not the gaze of the students but the teacher’s own perspective-unconsciously set standards demanded by oneself as a teacher. The journal further describes the acknowledgment of the value of the experience as an elementary school substitute teachers, committing to efforts to become an excellent teacher by accepting it as one’s own, and breaking free from self-imposed constraints. The results of this research are expected to guide numerous novice elementary school substitute teachers who may not lose hope and continue to pursue their teaching dreams by finding their own value. It is also anticipated to serve as foundational information for developing guidance for novice substitute teachers.
