<침금동상>의 재질 및 제작 기법 연구

국문 초록

‘침금동상鍼金銅像’은 사람 모형을 축소하여 금속으로 만든 인체 모형이다. ‘침구동인鍼灸銅人’ 또는 ‘침금동인鍼金銅人’으로 불리기도 하며 한의학에서 침구용이나 의학용으로 사용되었다. 침금동상은 인체의 경맥‘經脈’과 경혈‘經穴’의 표준이 되었으며 의생들의 고시에 사용되었을 것으로 추정되고 있다. 세계 최초의 침구동인은 송 인종때 주조된 ‘천성동인天聖銅人’으로 알려져 있으며 현재 우리나라의 침구동인은 국립고궁박물관에서 보관중인 <침금동상>이 유일한 것으로 알려져 있다. 침금동상의 기원에 대해서는 중국에서 만들어져 우리나라로 건너왔다는 주장과 조선시대에 최천약이 직접 주조하였다는 주장이 전해지고 있다. 본 연구대상인 <침금동상>은 창덕궁과 궁중유물전시관에 보관 및 전시되어 오다가 현재는 국립고궁박물관에 보관중이다. <침금동상>은 인체를 축소하여 만든 약 86.0cm의 인체 모형이며 경락과 경혈이 음각되어 있다. 또한 시침을 위해 혈자리가 뚫려 있으며 혈명도 음각되어 있다. 표면을 성분 분석한 결과 구리Cu와 아연Zn이 주성분으로 검출되어 황동으로 만들어진 것으로 판단된다. 컴퓨터 단층촬영CT을 통해 3D 이미지를 분석한 결과 머리 부분에서 앞판과 뒷판을 고정시키는 것으로 추정되는 부속품을 확인하였다. 육안으로 잘 보이지 않는 혈자리를 3D 이미지를 통해 관찰하였고 양팔은 팔뚝을 기준으로 상·하로 나뉘어 있고 원래 움직일 수 있는 것으로 추측된다. 또한 발 부분에서 판과 판을 이어붙인 흔적을 확인하였다. 따라서 <침금동상>은 판과 판을 이어붙이고 경락과 경혈을 표면에 음각하였으며 경락 위에 혈자리를 뚫고 혈명을 음각한 황동 동상으로 확인된다.

영문 초록

The Chimgeumdongsang(鍼金銅像) is a miniature metal-made human gure, created by down-sizing a human model. Referred to as Chimgudongin(鍼灸銅人) or Chimgumdongin(鍼金銅人), it has been utilized in traditional Korean medicine for acupuncture or medical purposes. The Chimgeumdongsang has served as a standard representation of the human body’s meridians(經脈) and acupuncture points(經穴), and it is presumed to have been utilized in the training of medical professionals. Cheonseongdongin(天聖銅人), were cast during the Song Dynasty in ancient China. Currently, the only known acupuncture human gure in South Korea is the ‘Chimgeumdongsang,’ preserved at the National Palace Museum. ere are conicting claims about the origin of the NPMK’s Chimgeumdongsang, with one theory suggesting it was produced in China and later brought to Korea, while others assert that it was personally cast by Choi Cheon-yak during the Joseon Dynasty. The subject of this study, Chimgeumdongsang, has been preserved and exhibited at Changdeokgung Palace and the Royal Antiquities Exhibition Hall, and is currently housed at the National Palace Museum of Korea. This miniature human figure measuring approximately 86cm, is crafted by downsizing the human form, with the meridians and acupuncture points intricately engraved. Furthermore, it features perforations for acupuncture needle insertion at acupuncture points, and the names of these points are also engraved. e surface composition analysis revealed that copper(Cu) and zinc(Zn) are the predominant elements, suggesting that it was made of brass. rough computerized tomography(CT) analysis of 3D images, additional components presumed to secure the front and back plates at the head section were identified. Even the acupuncture points not easily visible to the naked eye were observed through 3D imaging. The arms are divided into upper and lower portions based on the forearm, suggesting that they were originally movable. Moreover, traces of connecting plates were identified at the base, indicating that the Chimgeumdongsang was assembled by attaching individual plates. Consequently, this analysis conrms that the gure is made of brass, with plates joined together, and features engraved meridians and acupuncture points, including perforations for acupuncture needles on the surface, indicating meticulous craftsmanship.
