건강장애학생 부모의 초기 교육지원 경험에 관한 질적 연구

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 건강장애학생의 부모를 대상으로 진단 이후의 초기 교육지원 과정에서 어떤 심리적 경험을 하였는지 살펴봄으로써 건강장애학생의 교육지원 방안을 모색하기 위해 실행하였다. 이를 위해 6명의 부모를 연구 참여자로 선정하여 포커스그룹 면담을 진행하였다. 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과, 30개의 의미단위, 이를 포함하는 상위 개념인 8개의 하위범주와 최상위 개념인 2개의 주제가 도출되었다. 연구 결과, 부모들은 초기 교육지원 과정에서 낯선 상황에서 느끼는 혼란과 불안의 과정을 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 대한 하위주제로는 진단 초기의 혼란스러움과 치료 기간 중의 사회적 관계 단절에 대한 두려움, 학교복귀에 대한 불안감, 학교복귀 이후 예견되는 편견과 차별에 대한 두려움을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 그럼에도 불구하고 자녀의 교육에 대한 지원 요구를 언급하며 기대와 희망을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 자녀의 교육에 대한 부모의 기대와 희망에 관한 하위 주제로는 교육지원 절차의 개선, 개별 학생의 여건을 고려한 유연한 교육지원 제도, 학생과 부모 대상의 지원 프로그램 개발, 포용적인 학교문화 형성을 희망하는 것을 확인하였다. 논의에서는 연구 결과를 바탕으로 건강장애 자녀의 교육지원 과정에서 부모 대상의 구체적인 지원 방안에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to determine appropriate supportive measures of education for students with health impairments using focus group interviews about the psychological experience of parents regarding educational support after their child was diagnosed. Six parents participated in the interviews, from which two subjects, eight subcategories, and 30 semantic units were derived. The results showed that in the early stage of education support, parents experienced ‘confusion and anxiety in an unfamiliar situation,' in which ’tumult in early diagnosis stage’,’worry about social isolation during a therapeutic period,’ ‘anxiety of school reentry’ and ‘fear of foreseen prejudice and discrimination at school’ were included as sub-subjects. Parents nonetheless appeared optimistic about expressing their child’s need for educational support. The other subject, 'parents' expectations and hopes about the education for their children,' had four sub-subjects: ‘improvement in educational support process’; ‘flexible system regarding conditions of each individual student’; ‘development of supporting programs targeting students and their parents’; and ‘formation of an inclusive school culture.’ Based on these results, we concluded by discussing specific educational support plans for parents of children with health impairments.
