임진왜란에 관한 예언과 변형

국문 초록

7년간의 왜란은 수많은 인적·물적 피해를 남겼고, 그 후유증은 수백 년간지속되었다. 당시 전란을 겪었던 경험과 기억은 구전이나 기록으로 남겨졌으며, 후대에는 이를 기반으로 한 각종 평가와 인식들이 회고이자 교훈, 혹은 흥밋거리로서 다루어졌다. 예언 또한 그 가운데 하나였다. 왜란에 관한 예언은17세기 초 개인 문집을 중심으로 확인되며, 주류를 이루었던 내용은 발발 징조, 전개와 대처에 관한 것이었다. 이들 예언은 앞날을 내다볼 수 있다고 여겨졌던 여러 인물 덕분에 신뢰성을 담보할 수 있었으며, 왜란은 인간이 어찌할수 없는 천명이며 반드시 종결된다는 의미를 담고 있었다. 한편, 18세기에는 각종 역모 사건 등에 기반한 다양한 예언이 쏟아져 나왔다. 이러한 상황 속에서 왜란에 관한 예언은 새로운 유형의 예언과 연계하며흡수되거나 변형되기도 하였다. 그 양상은 讖言이나 예언서를 중심으로 확인되는데, 기존 예언과는 내용뿐만 아니라 생산 목적 등에서 차이가 있었다. 이와 같은 사실은 왜란에 관한 예언이 讖言이나 예언서를 중심으로 17세기와는다른 갈래에서 생산 및 전승되고 있었음을 시사한다. 적어도 두 갈래에서 생산 및 전승되었던 예언은 지속성과 역동성에서 점차 명암이 엇갈려 갔다. 17 세기 초부터 개인 문집을 중심으로 활발히 다루어졌던 발발 징조나 전개에 관한 예언은 점차 凋落해 간 반면, 18세기 전후로 변형되거나 다른 예언에 흡수되었던 예언은 ‘鄭鑑錄’을 비롯한 각종 예언서의 생산에 힘입어 지속성과 역동성을 유지해 갔다.

영문 초록

The seven-year Japanese invasion left a lot of human and material damage, and the aftereffects lasted for hundreds of years. The experiences and memories of the war at that time were left as oral tradition or record. In later generations, various evaluations and perceptions based on this were treated as retrospectives, lessons, or interests. Prophecy was one of them. Prophecy about the Japanese War is recorded around a private collection of literary work in the early 17th century and the mainstream content was about signs of occurrence and development and react. Prophecy was able to gain credibility because of people who were believed to be able to predict the future and The Japanese invasion was God's will and meant to be terminated. Meanwhile, as the 18th century entered, several new prophecies emerged. Under such circumstances, prophecies about the Japanese invasion are linked to predictions of new types and contents. As a result, the meaning was transformed or absorbed into a new type of prophecy. These prophecies appear in the book of prophecies. These prophecies appear mainly in prophecies, which differ in content and purpose made compared to before. This fact suggests that predictions about the Japanese War were being made in a different form from those of the 17th century. The future of prophecy, which had been made of at least two types, gradually diverged. Prophecies about the signs and processes of the Japanese War declined. On the other hand, prophecies that have been transformed or absorbed by other prophecies since the 18th century could have persistence and dynamism.
