판소리 전승현황과 보존방안

국문 초록

이 논문은 판소리 전승현황과 보존방향에 관한 논의이다. 판소리가 1964년 이래 제도권의 보호를 받으면서 전승체계를 갖추게 되는 과정을 살피고, 현재의 전승현황이 갖고 있는 문제점을 지적하며 앞으로의 전수방향에 대하여 모색하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 판소리는 19세기의 왕성한 전성기를 거쳐 다양한 유파가 형성되고 전승되었다. 그러나 일본 식민지 시대를 거치면서 민족예술로서의 지위를 잃어버리고 인멸의 위기에 처하게 되었다. 판소리는 1964년 국가지정문화재로 제도적 보호를 받게 되면서 유파별 명맥을 이어온 공로가 있다. 그리고 판소리 유파가 지방문화재로 확대되어 지정되면서 전승의 범위를 확장시켜왔다. 그러나 각 유파의 특징을 잘 살린 전승체계를 확보하지 못하고 임기응변식으로 지정하는 폐단이 있어왔다. 유파별 특징을 고려한 전승체계를 확정하여 의미있는 유파가 전승의 보호권에 들어와야 한다고 논의하고 있다. 판소리 다섯바탕 가운데 무형문화재로 지정되어 제도적 전승이 보장된 유파는 다음과 같다. <춘향가>의 경우, 김세종제, 정정렬제, 김연수제, 김소희제가 전승의 범주에 포함되어 있다. <심청가>는 정응민제가 무형문화재로 지정되어 있다. <흥보가>는 박녹주제와 강도근제가 지정되어 있다. <수궁가>는 정광수제와 박초월제가 전승의 맥락을 확보하고 있다. <적벽가>는 박봉술제가 지정되어 있다. 본고에서는 <춘향가>의 경우 박봉술제, <심청가>의 경우 서편제와 김연수제, <흥보가>의 경우 박봉술제와 박초월제, <수궁가>의 경우 정응민제와 임방울제, <적벽가>의 경우는 정응민제가 확고한 전승기반을 갖추는 후계자가 있으며 보호할 가치가 있는 유파로 판단되어 제도적 보호의 맥락을 확보할 필요성을 제기하였다. 한편 여러 바탕의 완판 판소리를 보유했던 명창의 경우, 각각의 소리는 전승의 제도적 보호를 받아야 된다고 보았다. 이 경우 복수지정이 필요하다는 것이다. 예를 들어 박봉술제는 <춘향가><흥보가><수궁가><적벽가>가 남아 있는데, 현재 보호받은 것은 <적벽가>이다. 그 나머지 종목도 동편제의 법통을 이어온 소리로, 우리에게 보호육성의 의미가 있기 때문에 모두 지정되어야 할 것으로 보았다.

영문 초록

This study is about preserving tradition of Pansori and its means of preservation. Pansori, Since 1964, has been protected by authorities to become a valid tradition of art, and therefore schools of Pansori were found. I seek to study the process of how the traditions grew, how the current situation of preservation is flawed in a way, and how best we can improve it. During the 19th Century, Pansori has gone through the prime of the genre, building up many different schools of art. However, during the Japanese Colonial Era, it almost faced the extinction as an art form of the people. Pansori has been selected as the National Trasure, and thus was protected by the government since 1964, preserving the schools of the art. Also, the schools of Pansori were selected as Local Cultural Treasures as well, widening the tradition in many ways. However, many of them could not really secure their distinct characteristics and only appointed as treasures on whim. There are ideas about how to improve the situation, reflecting on how to represent the distinct aspects of different schools. The schools who were guaranteed its status as Important Intangible Treasure among the traditions of five most important Pansori performances are as following: Kim Sejong-je, Jeong Jeongryul-je, Kim Yeonsoo-je, Kim Sohee-je for , Jeong eungmin-je for , Park Nokjoo-je and Kang Dogeun-je for , Jeong Gwangsoo-je and Park Chowol-je for , and Park Bongsul-je for . This study also recommend Park Bongsul-je for , Seopyeon-je and Kim Yeonsoo-je for , Park Bongsul-je and Park Chowol-je for , Jeong Eungmin-je and Im Bangwool-je for , and Jeong Eungmin-je for . The choice is based on having enough talented disciples to carry on the tradition, and also having distinct characteristics and structure worth protected by the government. Also, for Pansori masters who have multiple Pansori traditions, it is important that each and every tradition is protected seperately and independently. For example, Park Bongsul-je has ,, and , and the only one which is protected now is . The other traditions all have the old tradition of Dongpyun-je, and it is certainly worth preserving, and all should be chosen.
