장르별 심청이야기가 지니는 의미 지향

국문 초록

‘심청이야기’의 향유와 전승은 다양한 방식으로 이루어져왔으며 현재에 이르기까지 심청의 삶이 전해주는 감동도 여전히 유효한 서사물이다. 본 글은 고소설과 판소리, 서사무가라는 서로 다른 장르에 귀속되어 나름대로 독자 또는 청자나 관객을 확보하고 있는 심청이야기를 대상으로 하여 그 의미를 파악하는 데에 목적을 두었다. 심청전, 심청가, 심청무가를 대상으로 서사를 비교하되 주로 등장인물들의 삶의 양상에 초점을 두고 그 삶이 지니는 의미를 살펴보고자 하였다.경판 심청전의 경우, 심청과 심현의 적강담을 통해 인간의 적극적 실천의지를 강조하여 삶의 긍정적 의미를 부여하고 있었으며 완판 심청전은 심청을 포함한 여러 등장인물들의 삶의 양태에 내재된 숭고와 비속이라는 삶의 양면성을 진실되게 보여주고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 심청가의 경우 완판 심청전처럼 여러 인물들이 등장하지만 심청의 삶에 보다 집중하게 함으로써 그 삶을 통한 슬픔의 전환과 大同의 신명풀이를 보여주었다. 또한 심청굿에서 구연되는 심청무가에서는 현실에서 직면하는 삶의 문제를, 신격화시킨 심청을 통해 해결하고자 하는 바람이 내재되어 있음을 알 수 있었다.심청이야기의 다양한 면모는 인간 보편의 또는 본질의 이야기, 즉 삶의 이야기를 중심으로 하면서도 是非나 好惡의 판단을 내리지 않는 서사적 특성에서 비롯된다.예술 작품 창작에 있어 인간 또는 인간의 태어남-삶-죽음에 대한 문제는 영원히 주요 관심사가 될 것이다. 이러한 관점에서 심청이라는 여성의 인생 여정이 서사의 중심을 이루는 심청이야기는 앞으로도 여전히 변용수용될 가능성이 큰 서사물이라고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

ShimCheong Story has been enjoyed and handed down in many forms and is narrative still effective in impressing us with the heroine's life. This study developed a discussion about ShimCheong Story, which belongs to different genres such as a Korean Classical Novel, Pansori, or Shamanic Epic and obtains readers, listeners, or audience of its own. A comparison was made among ShimCheongJeon, ShimCheongga, and ShimCheong-muga primarily in terms of narrative with focus on characters' lives. It was consequently understood that the same basic narrative of ShimCheong Story has been accepted in a changed form according to the method of transmission and delivered different meanings and impressions to receptors. First, ShimCheongJeon(KyeongPan) suggests a positive meaning of life with emphasis on human beings' positive will to practice. Second, ShimCheongJeon(WanPan) reveals both sides of life―sublimity and vulgarity inherent in various types of life. Third, Pansori ShimCheongga has such meanings as conversion of sorrow and Sinmyeong-puri through the heroine's life. ShimCheong-muga realized in ShimCheong-Gut attempted to solve life problems one was actually faced with through God. Many features of ShimCheong Story originate in a narrative property of avoiding making a judgement of right and wrong or likes and dislikes even with focus on a universal or essential story of human beings, or life story. The matters of human beings or their birth, living, and death will be main concerns in creating a work of art forever. In this respect, ShimCheong Story in which narrative develops around the life course of a woman named ShimCheong has great possibility of being accepted in a changed form still in the future.
