판소리 <춘향가>의 현대적 재창조에 관한 연구

국문 초록

춘향전은 그 자체가 훌륭한 내용적 구조를 가지는 작품이며, 판소리 춘향가로서 대중들에게 많은 인기를 받았던 고전이기 때문에 오늘날까지도 가장 주목을 많이 받는 영원한 재창조재창작의 소재가 되고 있다.본고에서 살펴본 바 비공연예술 분야의 시소설뿐만 아니라 회화만화사진 등에서도 적극적으로 분석되어 활용되고 있으며, 공연예술 분야의 창극연극뮤지컬오페라가극영화무용 등에서도 지속적으로 현대적 수용의 길을 걷고 있음을 알 수 있었다.필자는 본문을 통해서 기존의 관련 연구 성과를 정리하고 그 수용 양상을 살펴본 결과 내용상 변화없이 원전을 그대로 사용하면서 새로운 공연예술 혹은 비공연예술 형태로 수용된 경우와 내용상 변이가 일어난 경우가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 대체로 처음 새로운 예술 형태로 수용될 경우 거의 내용의 변화없이 수용되지만 현대로 올수록 내용상의 패러디나 변화가 많이 동반되어 예술작품화되는 경향도 나타나고 있었다.최근 공연예술계에서 춘향전을 적극적으로 활용하여 작품의 소재로 활용하는 것은 아마도 춘향전이 시대를 초월하는 보편적인 예술성이 내제되어 있기 때문이 라 볼 수 있다. 그것은 춘향전 속에서 우리가 찾아낼 수 있는 인간 삶의 여러 가지 모순들을 극적으로 해결함으로 인해서 우리에게 보편적인 진리를 찾아주는 방법을 간직하고 있기 때문이기도 하다.

영문 초록

Chunhyangjeon is a work that has an excellent plot structure on its own and it has been so popular to the public as Pansori Chunhyangga so that it has been one of the most noticeable subject matters of endless revitalization and re-creation up to now. It has been investigated from this study that Chunhyanggeon has been analyzed and used actively in non-performance art such as painting, cartoon and photograph as well as poetry and novel; likewise, it has lead the modern readaptation continuously in the fields of performance art such as Korean Classical opera, theater, musical, opera, lyric drama, movie and dancing. The author has rearranged the existing research outcomes and investigated the aspects of acceptance; as a result, it has been investigated that there were two different types as in the following: the case of accepting a new performance art or non-performance art while using the original contexts without changing its contents and the case of changing its contents. On the whole, in case that it was accepted into a new type of artistic form, there was few change; however, as it came to the modern period, it had a tendency to art works by combining some parodies for contents or change. The reason that the contemporary performance groups have used Chunhyangjeon actively as a subject matter of their new works was that it has probably contained timeless and universal quality of art. Besides, it has contained the way to find universal truth by means of solving various contradictions of human life dynamically that we could find in Chunhyangjeon.
