江國香織初期作品における別れと再会の諸相: ｢デューク｣を中心に

국문 초록

本稿は江國香織の初期作品である｢デューク｣を主な考察対象にして、その特徴を明らかにするものである。まず｢デューク｣についての先行研究を概観、整理した上で、作品についてストーリーの流れに添いつつ内容、構成の両面から分析し、先行研究が触れていない点を指摘するとともに、同作品において別れや再会がどのように描かれているかということを明らかにする。その上で、｢草之丞の話｣といった他の初期作品にも論及し、共通点、相違点を明らかにすることによってさらに深く｢デューク｣を理解するための補助線とする。 たとえば｢デューク｣、｢草之丞の話｣ともに、一人称の回想体で語られているところなども共通しているが、特に両作において別れが物語の中心に据えられていることは注目に値する。さらにいえば、｢デューク｣、｢草之丞の話｣では、別れが語られるに際して、悲しみや絶望、孤独感といった要素が取り除かれるかたちで読者に提示されており、それは別れた相手との再会の可能性が残されることに起因しているといえる。このような点を作品内容に即して論証することで、｢デューク｣、｢草之丞の話｣に代表される江國香織初期作品の特徴の一端を明らかにする。

영문 초록

In this paper, I mainly analyse Duke, one of the earliest works by Kaori Ekuni, and reveal its characteristics. After overviewing previous studies on Duke, I analyse the content and structure of the literary work in accordance with its storylines, shedding light on points that have not been discussed in previous studies and revealing the ways in which Duke portrays separations and reunions. I also mention other early works by Ekuni such as A Story about Kusanojo and point out commonalities and differences between them, shedding further light on Duke. For instance, the stories in the two literary works reflectively proceed from the first-person point of view. Also, in these works, the main theme of the stories is separation. Furthermore, separations are portrayed in such a way that the factors such as sorrow, desperation, and loneliness are not evoked on the part of the readers, which suggests that a possibility remains of a reunion with a separated person. I argue for these points in accordance with the content of the literary works and uncover some characteristics of the early works by Kaori Ekuni, represented by Duke, A Story about Kusanojo, and so forth.
