탈춤 춤사위의 창조적 계승을 위한 소고 - 기본무 춤사위 해체 및 재조합 작업을 중심으로 -

국문 초록

본 연구는 문화재로 지정된 이후 고정된 탈춤의 춤사위를 보다 자유롭게 연행할 수 있는 방안을 모색하기 위해시작되었다. 이를 위해 국가무형문화재로 지정된 이후에도 연희자의 움직임이 비교적 자유롭게 이루어지고 있는농악의 연행법에 주목하였고, 이를 탈춤에서도 적용하여 연행할 수 있도록 연구를 진행하였다. 먼저 국가무형문화재로 지정된 탈춤의 기본무 중 비교적 춤사위가 많은 고성오광대, 양주별산대놀이, 강령탈춤을 선정하였다. 각 지역 기본무의 춤사위를 분석하여 농악에서의 연행법과 마찬가지로 상･하체로 구분하여 해체하였고, 해체한 세 지역사위를 다양한 각도로 조합해보았다. 이 과정에서 각 사위가 박을 기준으로 구분되는 것을 확인하여 해체된 동작을 박에 따라 <1박 사위>, <2박 사위>, <4박 사위> 움직임이 고정된 사위를 <고정 사위>로 구분하여 정리하였다. 또한 상･하체의 조합도 박을 기준으로 이루어진다는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 활용하여 세 지역 탈춤의상･하체 사위를 다양한 각도로 재조합하여 새로운 춤사위들을 만들었고, 이를 활용하여 공연형 기본무를 제작하여발표하였다. 이 과정을 통해 농악과 마찬가지로 탈춤 사위도 해체 및 재조합을 통해 춤사위를 제작할 수 있음을확인할 수 있었다. 해체된 춤사위를 조합해보는 과정이 점차 익숙해지면서 세부 분박까지 구분하여 사위를 조합하는 것도 가능해졌다. 또한 탈춤의 사위를 학생의 수준에 맞춰 제작하여 체계적인 교육을 설계하는 것도 가능하였다. 본 연구결과가 더 많은 연희자들에게 공유되어 이를 활용한 체계적인 수업 및 창의적인 작업으로 이어졌으면한다.

영문 초록

This paper was initiated to find a way in which one can freely express movements of mask dance, which had been fixed since it was designated as the cultural heritage. To this end, it focused on the way of performing in nongak (percussion ensemble music)--the movements of performers are relatively free even after being designated as a national intangible cultural heritage--in order to apply it to mask dance. First, this study selected Goseong ogwangdae, Yangju byeolsandae nori , and Gangnyeong talchum, which have relatively many dance movements among the basic dance of mask dance designated as national intangible cultural heritages. Then, by analyzing the movements of basic dance in each region, it dismantled them by dividing them into upper and lower body parts just like the way of performing in nongak , and combined those dismantled movements of the three regions in various angles. In this process, it confirmed that each movement was classified based on beat, and classified and organized the dismantled movements as 'one-beat movement', 'two-beat movement', 'four-beat movement', or 'fixed movement' according to the beat. It also confirmed that the combination of the upper and lower body movements was made based on beat. Lastly, utilizing the results, this study created new dance movements by reorganizing the upper and lower body movements of mask dances in the three regions from various angles, and produced and presented a performance type of basic dance. Through this process, this study confirmed that mask dance performances can be produced through dismantling and recombining, just like nongak. As the process of combining the dismantled dance movements gradually became familiar, it became possible to combine them in accordance to detailed subdivided beats. In addition, it was possible to design systematic education by producing the movements of mask dance according to the level of the students. It is hoped that the results of this study will be shared with more performers, leading to systematic classes and creative work using them.
