독서토론이 고등학생의 감상문 쓰기에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 독서토론의 방법으로서 자유토의와 찬반토론이 고등학생들의 독서 감상에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 탐구하였다. 연구를 위해서 고등학교 세 학급에서 독후 활동으로 마인드맵, 자유토의, 찬반토론을 각각 실시하고 감상문을 분석하였다. 그 결과 기술적 진술에서는 마인드맵 활동을 수행한 학급이, 그리고 평가적 진술에서는 찬반토론을 수행한 학급이 다른 학급과 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 이 결과를 통해서 보면 마인드맵 같은 개인적 활동보다는 자유토의나 찬반토론과 같은 사회적 상호작용이 높은 활동이 학생들의 해석적, 평가적 반응을 더 잘 이끌어낼 수 있다는 것을 알 수 있다. 또한 독서토론의 방법으로 자유토의보다는 찬반토론이 비판적 사고력을 높이는 데 효과적이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of free discussion and debate, book discussion methods, on highschool students' comprehension. This study specifically applied 3 types of instructions(free discussion, debate, and mind-map) to 3 classrooms, and analyzed students' book journals from each classroom. The results of this study examined that the mind-map students produced more descriptive responses in their book journals than other groups. Debate students, however, had a significant difference on evaluative responses than students who had other instructions. This study showed that free discussion or debate which encouraged active social interactions among students was more helpful for students to produce interpretive and evaluative responses than the mind-map of individual activities. In addition, the study found out that debate was more effective than free discussion. Students of debate group developed their own viewpoints and deepened their understandings more effectively, which proposed the benefits of debate as a way of book discussions in the classroom.
