국문 초록

본고는 미각어 ‘달다, 쓰다, 맵다, 시다, 짜다’의 다의화 과정과 여기에서 생성된 미각어 관련 고정표현에 나타난 인지의미의 양상을 밝힌다. 2장에서 사전의미, 말뭉치 검색, 사용빈도 조사와 설문조사를 통해 고빈도 고정표현을 선정하고, 3장에서는 미각어들의 긍정성과 부정성이 고정표현의 생성 과정에 어떻게 반영되었는지를 분석한다. 각 미각어들은 그 맛을 봤을 때와 유사한 느낌의 신체 반응이 연결되면서 감정 가치를 형성하고 다른 심리 상태나 상황에 이러한 감정이 이입 적용되면서 추상의미가 파생된다. 이것이 관용성을 띠면서 상용구절, 관용구절, 속담의 고정표현이 생성된다. 고정표현의 긍정성은 ‘달다류>짜다류>시다류>맵다류>쓰다류’의 순이고, 가장 좋은 이미지로 인식된 단맛은 좋은 기분과 상황을 표현하여 긍정의미의 고정표현을 생성하며, 반대로 쓴맛은 나쁜 기분과 상황을 표현하여 부정의미의 고정표현을 생성한다. 단맛과 쓴맛이 대립관계를 이룬 고정표현이 많은 것이 특징적이다.

영문 초록

This study looks at the process by which the five basic tastes “sweet, bitter, spicy, sour and salty” have multiple related meanings. It also considers the aspects of cognitive meanings of their fixed expressions composed of the derived meanings of taste words. Chapter 2 presents the fixed expressions of five taste words with high-frequency by referring to the dictionary definition, the Sejong corpus, usage survey and conducting a survey. Chapter 3 looks at how taste words have expressed the cognitive meaning of their fixed expressions from two perspectives “positivity” and “negativity”. Each taste word is closely connected with the body’s response of tasting the food. When these feelings are involved with and applied to other state of mind and different situations, abstract meanings are derived. Also, when they are idiomatically used, the fixed expressions such as semi-idiomatic phrases, idiomatic phrases, and sayings are created. Sweetness is mainly used to express good feelings and situations, and also produces the fixed expressions with positive meanings. Bitterness is just the opposite of sweetness. It features that there are many fixed expressions in which sweet and bitter are opposites.
