은유를 활용한 문법 교육

국문 초록

목적：본 연구는 어휘의 ‘개념적 은유’를 학습한 학생들이 ‘문법적 은유’의 개념을 유추하고 국어에서 적절한 예시를 발견하게끔 하는 데 있다. 방법：Lakoff & Johnson은 은유를 개념 영역 간의 유사성을 통해서 구조화하고 이해하는 것으로 보았다. 이에 Halliday는 어휘적 은유의 보완으로서 문법적 은유를 동일한 의미를 표현하는 데에 문법적 표현의 실현 방식을 달리하여 나타내는 언어적 현상으로 정의하였다. 본 연구는 <국어어휘의미교육론>을 수강한 학생들이 ‘어휘적 은유’를 토대로 ‘문법적 은유’의 개념과 예시를 자기주도학습법을 토대로 제시해 보도록 하였다. 결과：학생들은 어휘의 개념적 은유를 통하여 적절한 국어어휘의미교육방안을 제시하였다. 그리고 어휘의 개념적 은유를 통한 문법적 은유의 개념 유추는 ‘문법’과 ‘은유’의 개념을 토대로 ‘말의 구성 및 운용상의 규칙’과 관련된 것이 있음을 유추한 것도 있었다. 국어의 예시는 경험적 은유로 ‘통사적 명사화’와 논리적 은유로 조건절과 주절이 연결된 문장을 제시하면서, 주절에서 의존명사 ‘것’이 사용된 명사적 표현의 예를 제시하였다. 결론：학생들이 스스로 어휘적 은유를 통해 문법적 은유를 발견하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 앞으로 교수자와 학습자와의 더욱더 발전된 상호작용을 통하여 좀 더 활발한 자기주도학습이 이루어져야 되리라 본다.

영문 초록

Purpose：The purpose of this study is to help students who have learned “conceptual metaphors” of vocabulary infer the concept of “grammatical metaphors” and discover appropriate examples in Korean. Methods：Lakoff & Johnson viewed metaphors as structuring and understanding metaphors through similarities between conceptual domains. Therefore, Halliday defined grammatical metaphor as a complementary lexical metaphor as a linguistic phenomenon that expresses the same meaning but differs in the realization method of grammatical expression. In this study, students who took presented concepts and examples of “grammatical metaphors” based on “lexical metaphors”, on the basis of self-directed learning methods. Results：Students presented an appropriate Korean vocabulary meaning education plan through the conceptual metaphor of vocabulary. There was also an analogy that the concept of grammatical metaphor through the conceptual metaphor of the vocabulary is related to the ‘rules in the composition and operation of words’ based on the concepts of ‘grammar’ and ‘metaphor’. An example of the Korean language is ‘syntatic nominalization’ as an empirical metaphor, and a sentence in which the conditional clause and the main clause are connected as a logical metaphor. Conclusion：Students were able to find out grammatical metaphors by themselves through lexical metaphors. In the future, more active self-directed learning should be achieved through more developed interactions with instructors and learners.
