국문 초록

『선종영가집』은 일반인에게 많이 알려진 책은 아니지만 불교의 수행법을 잘 설명한 책이다. 천태에서 공부하였기에 천태의 법을 계승하였다고 하는 이도 있지만 육조의 법을 계승하여 천연외도(天然外道)를 면하였다. 육조의 법을 계승하였기에 영가의 수행법은 천태에서 시작하였지만 여래의 정법을 설한 것이다. 이 책에서는 수행법을 10단으로 나누어 설명하였는데 여기에서는 앞의 7단까지만 알아보겠다. 『선종영가집』에서 수행은 처음에는 삼계(三界)를 고(苦)라고 알고 출가하여 깨달음을 얻기 위하여 수행하는 것이다. 그리고 청정하게 사마타(奢摩他)와 위빠사나(毘婆舍那) 그리고 우필차(優畢叉)의 수행을 하여 성자의 지위에 들어간다. 그리고 돈오하여 삼승이 되어서도 대승으로 더 나아가는 점수를 설하고 있다. 즉 공가중(空假中)이 된 이후에 삼승을 설하여 성문·연각·보살에서 부처로 더 나아가야 한다. 일반적으로 돈오란 삼승이 되는 것을 말하는 것이고 누구나 깨달을 수 있으므로 토끼·말·코끼리로 비유한 것이다. 이들이 깨달아서 육바라밀을 실천하면 대승보살로 살아갈 수 있다. 그러므로 삼승에서 대승보살이 되고 다시 팔지 이후에는 돈오돈수의 경지에서 살아갈 수 있다. 영가의 수행법은 어느 누구나 수행할 수 있는 기초에서부터 성자가 된 이후의 삼승에서 더 나아가는 수행자가 되어 아라한이나 부처로 살아갈 수 있게 한 것이다. 그리고 누구나 조사나 여래가 되어 한도인으로 살아갈 수 있도록 천태의 일심의 본심을 지키려는 여래선의 수행에서 대승으로 나아가 일불승을 주장하고 있다.

영문 초록

Seonjongyeonggajip is not a well-known book, but it is a book that explains the practice Method of Buddhism. Someone say that Yongjia inherited T'ien-tai's dharma because it studied at T'ien-tai, but rather, it avoided natural Titṭhiya by inheriting Six Patriarch's dharma. Yongjia's Practice method, which inherited Six Patriarch's dharma, began with T'ien-tai, but established the law of the Buddha that transcends T'ien-tai. In this book, Practice Method was divided into 10 stages and explained, but only the first 7 stages were examined now. In Seonjongyeonggajip, Practice is to first know Three world as agony and Pabbajja to get Right Enlightenment. Then, he enters the status of a saint by cleanly Practice of Śamatha, Vipaśyanā, and Upekṣā. Thus, even after Right Enlightenment it and becoming Tri-yana, he preaches a Buddhist sermon the gradual Practice that goes further to Mahāyāna. In other words, it is said that Tri-yana should be established after Kongjiazhong to move further from Śrāvaka, Pratyeka- buddha, Bodhisattva to Buddha. In general, Enlightenment refers to becoming Tri-yana, which is a metaphor for rabbits, horses, and elephants, and if they practice Six pāramitā, they can live as Mahāyāna bodhisattva. Therefore, it becomes Mahāyāna bodhisattva from Tri-yana and can live in the state of Ton'otonsu after Avivartika. Yongjia's Practice Method established anyone to become a buddhist practitioner who goes further in Tri-Yana after becoming a saint from the basis of Practice and live as Arhat or Buddha. And they go from Tathagata-Dhyāna's Practice to Mahāyāna and claim in Ekayāna in order to insist T'ien-tai's Buddha mind so that they can become Patriarch or tathāgata and live as a Handoin.
