구글 트렌드를 이용한 2022년 대통령 선거의 지역별 관심도와 네트워크 분석

국문 초록

이 연구는 2022년 20대 대통령 선거기간에 수집된 구글 트렌드 수치를 네트워크 분석과 상관분석을 이용해 진행했다. 선거일 3월 9일 이전인 2021년 3월 7일부터 2022년 3월 7일까지 1년을 대상으로 데이터를 수집했다. 우선 지역별 관심도와 선거 키워드에 대해 연구를 진행했다. 두 번째로는 후보별 관련 검색어에 대한 분석을 수행했다. 마지막으로 구글 트렌드 수치와 실제 득표의 상관성을 파악했다. 2-mode matrix를 이용한 네트워크 분석, 중심성 분석 그리고 상관분석을 진행했다. 연구결과, 지역별로 강하게 연결된 키워드를 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 중심성을 파악한 결과, 지역 중에서는 서울이 연결성, 고유벡터성, 근접성 모두 가장 높게 나타났다. 대구, 강원, 그리고 경남도 2개 이상의 중심성에서 상위권에 위치했다. 키워드에서는 페미니즘과 윤석열이 높은 중심성 값을 보여줬다. 후보별 관련 검색어 분석결과, 이재명과 윤석열은 사생활과 관련된 이슈어가 많이 검색되었다. 안철수는 정치 인물, 선거 과정에 관한 단어들이 나타났다. 마지막으로 진행된 상관성 파악에서 이재명과 윤석열의 구글 트렌드 지표와 실제 득표는 높은 상관관계를 보였다. 본 연구는 기존 연구와 달리 구글 트렌드를 활용하여 네트워크 관점에서 살펴봤다. 지역과 밀접하게 연관되어 있는 선거 데이터를 관련 검색어까지 더해 관계적 특징을 알아내고 실제 득표와의 상관성까지 파악하는 것에 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study examines Google Trends data collected during the South Korea's presidential election in 2022 using network analysis and correlation analysis. Data was collected during a year, from March 7, 2021 to March 7, 2022. First, regional interest and election keywords were examined. Second, for each candidate, an analysis of associated search terms was done. Finally, the relationship between Google Trends data and real votes was discovered. The 2-mode matrix was used for network visualization, centrality analysis, and correlation analysis. The analyses confirmed the existence of keywords that are significantly related by area. Furthermore, as a result of recognizing its centrality, Seoul demonstrated the highest connectedness among regions. Feminism and Yoon Seok-yeol had high centrality values in keyword networks. Lee Jae-myung and Yoon Seok-yeol were searched for several privacy-related issues as a result of evaluating connected search words by candidate. Lee Jae-myung and Yoon Seok-yeol's Google Trends’ indicators and real scores indicated a significant correlation in the final correlation tests. While previous research used public opinion polls and Google Trends hitcounts to compare candidate names, this study used Google Trends to measure the search intensity of each candidate per province from a network perspective.
