국문 초록

행정구역은 주변 환경의 변화, 새로운 생활권 형성, 중앙정부에 의한 수직적인 개편 등에 의해 변화된다. 이러한 변화는 지역마다 다르고, 각기 다른 시기에 영향을 받음으로 지역·촌락 단위로 연구가 이루어질 때 구체적이고 실체적인 내용과 변화를 파악할 수 있다. 한편, 가평군의 행정구역 변화는 일부시기만 집중적으로 정리되었고, 특히, 1914년 대대적인 행정구역 개편을 비롯하여 일제강점기부터 광복 이전까지의 연구가 미흡하다. 본 연구는 기초 자치단체인 경기도 가평군의 시기별 행정구역 변화를 지리적 특징 및 인문사회적 요인을 고려하여 분석하였다. 이를 위해 현재 전하는 지도와 지리지, 지역 관련 문헌을 바탕으로 시대별 가평군의 행정구역을 정리하고, 그 변화를 도식화하였다. 또 가평군 행정구역 변천 과정을 재정리하고 이를 통해 조선시대부터 현재까지의 가평군 행정구역 경계를 복원하였다. 향후 본 연구는 가평군의 여러 연구의 기초자료로 이용되며, 특히 행정구역 변천 과정에 나타난 가평군의 전통적인 생활권이나 문화권을 복원하는 연구에 공간적인 범위를 제공한다.

영문 초록

The administrative districts change due to changes in the surrounding environment, the formation of new living space and vertical reorganization by the central government. These changes differ from region to region and affect the administrative districts at different times. If the administrative districts should be researched into at the city or village rather than a wider region, the results would be more specific and practical. In Gapyeong-gun, only some periods of change in administrative district intensively summarized. This study analyzed the changing process of administrative districts by period in Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, a basic local government, in consideration of natural environmental and humanity and social environmental factors. To this end, it review the historic data of Gapyeong-gun for the period. And thereby, arrange the changing process of administrative districts, and thereupon, construct a database about period-wise administrative districts and place names changed and then make a diagram of the changing process in administrative districts. Based on the results of this study, the researcher used the GIS to map the changes of the administrative districts of Gapyeong-gun by period from late Joseon dynasty through Japanese military occupation to present (2022). In addition, this study corrected the error of the place names of Gapyeong-gun shown in the local or geographic map used as basic database of the researches.
