地圖와 地誌의 기록으로 본 은평 지역의 지명

국문 초록

현재 은평구는 조선시대부터 현재에 이르기까지 행정 경계와 지명의 소멸, 개명, 추가 등 변화가 많은 지역이다. 고지도와 지지, 근대지도에 표기된 지명은 유지되는 경우도 있지만, 소멸되거나 개명, 추가되는 경우도 많다. 이러한 지명과 행정 경계 변화는 고지도와 지지, 근대지도에 기록된 지명과 경계를 통해 확인할 수 있다. 본고에서는 현재 은평구를 중심으로 연구 지역의 범위를 설정하고, 고지도와 지지, 일제강점기에 제작된 근대지도에 표기된지명과 행정 경계를 중심으로 은평 지역의 장소성을 알아보았다. 연구 자료는 고지도 11종 16장, 지지 8종, 「京城 府地圖」 등 근대지도 2종으로 자료에 기록된 은평 지역의 지명과 경계를 파악하였다. 은평 지역의 지명은 磚石峴, 白蓮山 등 자연지명은 현재에도 유지되거나 개명되어 사용되고 있고, 安養洞, 梁鐵坪, 迎署驛 등 인문지명은 1914년이후에 소멸되거나 개명된 지명이 확인되었다. 자료에 기록된 지명을 통해 은평 지역은 의주대로의 시작 지점으로의 교통로 역할과 사찰의 즐비해 있는 종교문화 공간으로서의 장소성을 지닌 곳이라고 볼 수 있다. 본 연구에서는은평 지역의 미시적인 연구 범위를 설정하여 시기에 따른 지명의 변화 양상을 살펴보았다. 이후 연구지역 범위를확대하여 지역에 해당하는 기초자료를 조사하고 방법론을 적용하여 지역 연구를 하고자 한다.

영문 초록

The Eunpyeong-gu area has undergone many changes from the time of the Joseon Dynasty to the present, with the disappearance, renaming, and deletion of several administrative boundaries and place names. Place names as marked on old maps, historical geographical texts, and modern maps have sometimes been retained, but in many cases, they have disappeared, have been renamed, or removed. These changes in place names and administrative boundaries can be confirmed through the place names and boundaries recorded in old maps, historical geographical texts, and modern maps. The scope of this research is the renaming of place names and changing of administrative boundaries in the Eunpyeong-gu area as observed from those marked on old maps, historical geographical texts, and modern maps. Data from 11 types of old maps, 16 sheet, 8 types of historical geographical texts, and 2 types of modern maps(Map of Gyeongseong) were used to identify the place names and boundaries of the Eunpyeong area. It was clarified that natural place names such as Jeonseokhyun(磚石峴) and Baengnyeonsan(白蓮山) in the Eunpyeong area are still retained or renamed and used presently, while place names derived from names of people, such as Anyangdong(安養洞), Yangcheolpyeong(梁鐵坪), and Yeongseo Station(迎署驛), have disappeared or have been renamed since 1914. The Eunpyeong area can be said to be a transportation route and a religious and cultural space. The microscopic research scope of the Eunpyeong area was established to examine the changes in place names over time. A future study is expected to expand the scope of the research area by investigating the basic data corresponding to the area, and the same methodology will be applied to conduct regional research.
