국문 초록

오늘날 조형예술에서 새로운 표현 매체로서 가구는 단순한 쓰임의 기능적 도구가 아닌 우리 마음속 에 내재된 감성을 전달하는 대상이 되고 있다. 작가의 철학적 가치가 함축된 예술품으로서 가구 개념 을 확장하고 가구에 대한 의미들을 총칭하는 용어로서 아트퍼니처(Art Furniture)는 현대생활 공간에서 새로운 해석과 관심으로 표출되고 있다. 아트퍼니처 개념은 수공예 부흥을 이끌던 윌리엄모리스(William Morris)를 중심으로 한 미술공 예운동(Art&Crafts Movement)에서 시작되어 현대미술 분야에서 회화, 조각, 공예, 설치에 이르기 까지 다양한 표현방법으로 나타나고 있다. 이에 본 논문은 아트퍼니처에 대한 개념을 이해하고 도자를 매체로 한 아트퍼니처에 대한 의 미를 분석하고 있다. 특히 인간의 생활공간에 가장 밀접하게 사용되고 있는 도자의자를 중심으로 도자의자의 유형을 전통적 표현의 의자와 현대 조형적 표현의 의자로 분류하여 현대미술에서 도자 의자의 가치와 독창적 표현요소를 파악하고자 한다. 현대도자에 나타난 의자의 유형을 통하여 조형적 특성을 분석하고 작품 속에 내포되어 있는 그 의미가 무엇인지를 파악하여 아트퍼니처로서의 다양한 발전 가능성을 연구하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Furniture as a new medium of expression in today s formative arts is not just a functional tool for use, but an object that conveys the emotions inherent in our minds. Art Furniture, as an art object that has the artist s philosophical value, expands the concept of furniture, and as a generic term for the meanings of furniture, is becoming the subject of new interpretation and interest in modern living spaces. The concept of art furniture began with the Art&Crafts Movement centered on William Morris, which led the revival of handicrafts, and has emerged in various ways of expression ranging from paintings, sculptures, crafts, and installations in the field of modern art. Therefore, this article understands the concept of art furniture and analyzes the meaning of art furniture using ceramics as a medium. Particularly, focusing on the ceramic chairs that are most closely used in human living spaces, I classified the types of ceramic chairs into four types: traditional, symbolic, metaphorical, and formative expressions, to grasp the value and original expression elements of ceramic chairs in modern art.
