눈결정의 형태분석에 따른 브로치 디자인 개발에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 금속스튜디오 수업 시간에 본 연구자의 학생들이 다양한 눈결정 형태의 조형적 특징을 파악하고 브로치 디자인을 개발하는 과정에 관한 내용이다. 논문에서는 수업 운영설계를 제시하고, 눈결정의 형태분석에 따른 브로치 디자인 개발과 제작과정을 소개하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 디자인 주제를 눈결정(snowflake)으로 선택한 이유는 본교의 심볼이 눈결정 형태이며, 이 심볼을 활용하여 디자인을 연구하고 개발함으로써 학생들에게 모교에 대한 소속감과 자부심을 증진시키고자 진행하게 되었다. 눈결정의 형태 분류에 있어서는 Kenneth G. Libbrecht 의 분류를 참조하였으며, 학습의 집중 효과를 높이기 위해 디자인 아이템은 브로치로 일원화하여 수업을 진행하였다. 본론에서는 다양한 눈의 형태와 온도와 습도에 따라서 각각 다르게 나타나는 눈결정의 다양한 형태에 대하여 정리하였으며 눈결정 형태를 활용한 명품주얼리 브랜드 제품사례를 소개하였다. 눈결정 브로치 디자인 제작에서는 금속 전공 4학년 학생들의 브로치 결과물 16점 중에서 12명 학생들의 디자인 사례를 수록하였으며 대표 학생 1인을 선정하여 디자인 컨셉과 눈 결정 구조분석, 3D 주얼리 모델링 과정을 제시하였다. 또한, 대학의 심볼을 활용한 주얼리 디자인 개발이 학생들에게 미치는 모교에 대한 인식의 변화를 설문 조사하였으며, 향후 대학에서의 주얼리 디자인 실기 교육의 다양성을 모색하고 교육 발전에 기여하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study deals with a process in which students identify formative features of various snowflake shapes and develop brooch designs in the researcher’s metal studio class. This study aims to present class operation design and introduce the process of developing brooch designs based on the analysis of snowflake shapes and producing works. A snowflake was chosen as the design theme because the symbol mark of the university is in a snowflake shape. The snowflake theme can be used to increase students’ sense of belonging and pride in their university as they study and develop snowflake designs. Kenneth Libbrecht’s classification scheme for snowflake types was referred to for the classification of snowflake shapes, and students were asked to make only one design item, which was a brooch, in order to increase the effect of their concentration in learning in class. In the main part of the study, a summary was provided about various snow shapes and various snowflake shapes that vary depending on temperature and humidity, and then luxury jewelry brand products featuring snowflake shapes were shown. In the snowflake brooch design production part, designs by 12 seniors in the metal major out of 16 were presented. A design by one student was selected to present its design concept, analysis of snowflake structures and 3D jewelry modeling process. The conclusion part includes the results of a survey conducted on students about change in their perception of their university after developing jewelry designs using the symbol of the university. This study intends to explore diversity in jewelry design practical class in universities, contributing to their educational development by presenting the process of developing designs.
