충청우도 무반가 자료의 사례연구

국문 초록

본 논문은 조선후기 충청우도의 무반가문 중 현전하는 자료를 통해 가문의 성향을 알 수 있는 결성의 담양전씨 보령공파가문의 사례연구이다. 조선은 유교 정치 이념에 따라 나라를 다스리는 문치정치를 추구하게 되었고 점차 문반을 중심으로 하는 사회로 재편성되었다. 그러한 사회 속에서 무반들은 대외적으로는 관직진출 및 혼인관계를 통해 자신들의 기반을 마련하였고 내부적으로는 문중의 권력을 유지하기 위해 노력하였다. 이 과정에서 무반가문들은 자신들과 관련된 유적과 유물, 고문서 자료들을 후손들에게 남겨 주었다. 그러나 조선시대 무반가는 문반가에 비하여 상대적으로 현전하는 유물과 고문서 등의 자료가 많이 남아 있지 않다. 때문에 현전하고 있는 무반가의 자료들은 더욱 중요한 가치를 지니게 된다. 그중 조선후기 충청우도 결성현의 담양전씨 보령공파의 자료를 바탕으로 자료의 현황을 파악하여 가문의 성격과 성장과정을 파악하였다. 이러한 과정에서 단일 세계(世系)에서 300년 이상 관력을 이어받아 무관직을 세습하는 모습을 살펴 볼 수 있었다. 또한 담양전씨의 혼인관계를 통해 지역사회에서의 성장·발전 모습을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

This paper presents a case study on the Damyang Jeon family of Boryeonggongpa in Gyeolseong to figure out its tendencies based on the remaining materials of military nobility families in Chungcheongwoo Province during the latter part of Joseon. Joseon sought after civil administration-based politics to rule the country according to the Confucian political ideas and was gradually reorganized into a society around civil servants. In the Joseon society, the military officers built a foundation by advancing to government positions and marrying other families on the outside and made efforts to keep the family power on the inside. In this process, military nobility families left relics, artifacts, and antique document materials related to them to their descendants. The remaining relics, artifacts, and antique document materials of military nobility families of Joseon are, however, relatively less than those of civil servant families, which add further values to the remaining materials of military nobility families. The present study examined the current state of such materials based on the materials of Damyang Jeon family of Boryeonggongpa in Gyeolseong, Chungcheongwoo Province during the latter part of Joseon and figured out the family s nature and growth process based on the materials. The family, in particular, transmitted its military positions from generation to generation by inheriting the government power in a single world for over 300 years. The family also grew and developed in the community through its marriage relations.
