이순신·정약용의 충효정신과 리더십 고찰

국문 초록

이 글은 조선시대 문무(文武)를 대표하는 충무공 이순신과 다산 정약용의‘충․효’정신에서 공통점을 찾아 현대사회가 계승해야 할 내용을‘리더십의 구성요소[리더 ․ 팔로어 ․ 상황요인]’에 맞춰 제시한 논문이다. 충(忠)은 나라사랑과 국가 윤리, 효(孝)는 가족사랑과 가정윤리를 뜻하는 보편적 가치이자 덕목이다. 그래서 충의 대상은 국가이고 효의 대상은 가정이다. 그런데 국가는‘영토·주권·국민’으로 구성되고, 국민 속에는 내가 있으므로‘나’또한‘충’의 대상이다. 이순신과 정약용은 자신 뿐 아니라 조직구성원들의 충효정신을 불러일으키는 뛰어난 리더십을 발휘했다. 하지만 조정(朝廷)으로부터는 죽음의 문턱과 냉대를 감수해야 했다는 공통점이 있다. 이순신은 불비한 여건에서도 20여 차례 해전에서 모두 승리했지만 두 차례의 투옥과 백의종군을 당했고, 정약용은 천주교인이라는 죄목으로 두 차례의 투옥과 유배형을 받았다. 이순신보다 217년 뒤에 태어난 정약용은‘임진왜란’과‘병자호란’을 겪으며 피폐(疲弊)해진 조선을 재건하기 위해 ‘의식전환’․‘제도개혁’․‘기술개발’의 기치(旗幟)아래 500여권의 책을 저술했으며, 그 중에는 임진왜란을 분석한 『비어고』가 있고,『경세유표』와『목민심서』에도 계승해야 할 내용을 분석해서 제시했다. 따라서 두 위인의‘충효정신’이 현대리더십으로 계승되도록 교육이 뒷받침되어야 한다고 본다.

영문 초록

This paper applies to the contents that modern society should inherit to the elements of leadership[leader ․ follower ․ situation] after seeking to find common ground in the spirit of Chung(loyalty) and HYO(filial piety) and the leadership of YI Sun-sin(pen name: Chungmugong), who represents soldiers and JEONG Yak-yong (pen name: Dasan) who represents scholars in Josun dynasty. Chung is a universal value and virtue that means love for the country and national ethics, HYO is family love and family ethics. Therefore the object of Chung is the nation and the object of HYO is the family. And the nation is composed of ‘territory’ ․ ‘sovereignty’ ․ ‘people’. Since I am included in the people, ‘I’ is also an object of Chung. YI Sun-sin and JEONG Yak-yong aroused not only the spirit of Chung of themselves but also the members of the organization and led them through outstanding leadership. However, they have something in common that the government attempted to kill them. Even though YI Sun-sin had won all 20 naval battles under very bad conditions, he was ordered to start with the lowest rank of soldier after being imprisoned twice and deprived of his rank. JEONG Yak-yong was sentenced to imprisonment and exile twice on the charge of being a Catholic. JEONG Yak-yong who was born 217 years after YI Sun-sin wrote more than 500 books with the aim of ‘consciousness change’ ․ ‘institutional reform’ ․ ‘technology development’ to rebuild Joseon which was devastated by the ‘Imjin War(Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592)’ and ‘Byeongja Horan (Qing invasion of Korea in 1636)’. Among them, he explained some of contents to be inherited in 『Bi-eo-go』that analyzed Imjin War,『Gyeongseyupy o』, and 『Mokminsimseo』. Therefore, this paper tried to emphasize the necessity of education from the point of view that the ‘leadership based on the spirit of Chung and HYO’ shown by YI Sun-sin and JEONG Yak-yong should be inherited.
