국문 초록

성직자 영입을 위한 『1811년 조선신자들의 서한』에 대한 연구는 조선천주교의 독특한 설립과정을 조선의 사신과 서양선교사의 만남을 통한 한역서학서의 도입과 조선의 자생적 천주교회 설립으로 연결되는 역사적 사실을 조명했다. 이러한 자생적 설립의 역사는 가성직제도라는 기이한 현상을 일으켰고, 제도의 교정 이후에 조선천주교회의 성직자 영입운동이라는 움직임으로 자연스럽게 이어졌다는 것을 살펴보았다. 또한 1795년 주문모 신부의 입국과 함께 조선천주교회의 북경교회와의 연계를 통한 체계화와 성장은 조선 신자들로 하여금 선교사의 역할과 영향력을 확인하는 계기가 되었다. 1801년 신유박해로 인한 선교사와 지도자들을 잃은 조선천주교회는 10년 동안 고립된 채로 신앙을 지키다가, 1811년 교황과 북경주교에게 서한을 보내게 된다. 이 서한의 내용을 통해서 신유박해의 발단과 시작과 과정, 결과 그리고 그 이후의 10년간의 조선의 상황에 대한 보고와 함께 성직자를 파견해 줄 것을 요청하는 서한들에 담긴 역사신학적 의미를 네가지로 분석해 낼 수 있었다. 첫째, 이 서한들에는 1801년 신유박해와 관련된 조선신자들의 시선과 정보가 담겨있고, 순교자들에 대한 관심과 고취를 통한 조선신자들의 인내가 담겨있다. 또한 박해를 통해 탄생한 순교자들에 대한 영성이 생겨났다는 점이다. 둘째, 서한들은 신유박해 이후 10년간의 고립된 조선천주교회의 상황들을 담고 있는 역사적 중요성 뿐 아니라, 조선천주교회 신자들이 신앙적인 위기 상황을 극복하기 위해 목자를 청하고 있다는 점에서 의미를 가진다. 셋째, 조선 신자들이 북경교회와 로마교회와의 연계를 통해서 신앙적 성숙을 위한 여러 가지 현실적인 상황 판단과 간청을 지속적으로 요청하고 있다는 점이 의미를 가진다. 넷째, 북경교회와 보편교회를 향한 질문과 조선천주교회의 상황을 종합적으로 인식하면서 신학적 질문과 호기심을 표현하고 있다는 점이다.

영문 초록

A study of the 1811 letters written by Korean believers for the recruitment of clergy sheds light on the historical facts that lead to the introduction of the Korean texts through the meeting of Korean envoys and Western missionaries and the establishment of the indigenous Catholic Church in Joseon. did. The history of such spontaneous establishment caused the strange phenomenon of the pseudo-priesty system, and after the system was corrected, it was examined that it naturally led to the movement of the Chosun Catholic Church s clergy recruitment movement. In addition, with the arrival of Father Jumunmo in 1795, the systematization and growth of the Korean Catholic Church through the connection with the Beijing Church served as an opportunity for Korean believers to confirm the role and influence of missionaries. The Korean Catholic Church, which lost missionaries and leaders due to the Sinyu persecution in 1801, kept its faith in isolation for 10 years, and then sent a letter to the Pope and the Bishop of Beijing in 1811. Through the contents of this letter, we analyze the historical and theological meaning contained in the letters requesting to dispatch a clergy along with a report on the beginning, beginning, process, and result of the Shinyu persecution, as well as the situation in Joseon for the next 10 years. First, these letters contain the views and information of Korean believers related to the Sinyu persecution in 1801, and the patience of Joseon believers through interest and inspiration for the martyrs. Also, the spirituality of the martyrs who were born through persecution was born. Second, the letters are meaningful not only in terms of historical significance, but also in that they contain the circumstances of the isolated Korean Catholic Church in the 10 years since the Shinyu persecution, and that the members of the Korean Catholic Church are seeking a shepherd to overcome the religious crisis. Third, it is meaningful that Korean believers are continuously requesting judgments and pleas for various realistic situations for religious maturity through the connection between the Beijing Church and the Roman Church. Fourth, theological questions and curiosity are expressed while comprehensively acknowledging the questions of the Beijing Church and the Universal Church and the situation of the Korean Catholic Church.
