성경텍스트의 설화성과 관점의 문제

국문 초록

하나의 이야기는 주된 설화 프로그램을 통해 서술되고 전개된다. 그 설화적 전략은 독자에게 읽기의 길을 제시하며 그 길을 따라 걷는 독자는 이야기가 지향하는 전망에 대해 이해하게 된다. 본고에서 살펴 본 카나 혼인잔치 이야기 역시 포도주의 결핍에 따른 문제제기와 그 결핍을 새로운 포도주로 채우는 문제해결의 설화 프로그램을 살펴볼 수 있다. 그럼에도 이러한 주된 설화 프로그램 이면에는 설화자와 행위자들의 다양하고 고유한 관점의 제시로 발생하는 다양한 의미론적 대립과 갈등이 숨겨져 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 이를테면, 하나의 이야기는 주된 설화 프로그램으로 정리되고 규정될 수 없고, 그 프로그램의 진행 과정 속 등장하는 다양한 관점들이 이야기의 의미론적 방향성을 변화시키고 있다는 사실을 살펴볼 수 있다는 것이다. 본고에서 살펴 본 카나 혼인잔치 이야기는 단순히 물을 포도주로 바꾸는 이적을 보여주는 이야기가 아니라, ‘결핍’의 자리가 아닌 ‘완성’의 자리에서 ‘믿는 이의 탄생’을 위한 하나의 표징적 사건으로 제시되고 있다. 마리아를 통해 포도주의 결핍에서 예수에로의 전적인 의탁을, 그 의탁 속에 일꾼들은 ‘말씀의 실천’을, 그리고 그 실천으로 형성된 포도주를 통해 예수는 ‘결핍’의 자리가 아닌 ‘완성’의 자리에로 독자들을 이끈다. 그 완성의 자리에서 과방장은 ‘좋은 포도주’라는 자신의 고유한 관점을 투사하고 있다. 이러한 일련의 관점의 변화를 통해 설화자는 예수의 영광이 드러난 것이라고 단정하고 그 영광은 제자들이 ‘믿는 이로’ 변화하는 자리라고 선포한다. 결국, 본고는 물을 포도주로 바꾸는 설화적 프로그램에 집중해서 예수의 객관적 정체성이나 그의 초자연적 능력을 보여주는 해석에 치중되어 있는 기존의 주석학적 관점에 문제를 제기하며, 본문 안에 나타나는 설화자와 행위자들의 다양한 관점의 제시를 통해 포도주의 생성이라는 설화적 구조 너머에 ‘믿는 이의 탄생’을 향하는 읽기의 모델을 제시하고자 한다. 결국 카나 혼인잔치 이야기는 ‘믿는 이의 탄생’이라는 요한복음의 설화적 전략(20,31)에 부합하는 것이 된다.

영문 초록

A story is developed by a main narrative strategy. The main narrative strategy gives readers a reading path through which readers understand the vision desired by the story. The story of the wedding at Cana analyzed in this article also presents the narrative strategy which unfolds from the nouement attracted by the lack of wine and which ends with the de-nouement of the filling of the wine. But, beyond this narrative strategy, it is certain that there are the particular and diverse points of view through which the semantic conflicts have arisen. In other words, a story is not only identified by the main narrative strategy and the diverse points of view that are articulated with the narrative strategy cause changes in semantic visions of the story. The story of the wedding at Cana analyzed in this article is not only a story that presents a miracle by which water became wine, but a symbolic event which is a semantic place of the rise of the believer. We see through the actor of Mary who puts in position the confidence in Jesus and it is on the confidence that the servants practice the Word of Jesus which prepares the semantic place not of “lack” but of “filling”. At the end of this narrative unfolding, the master of the meal identifies the wine filled as good wine by projecting his particular point of view. Finally, this article questions the exegetical attitude that focuses on research in relation to the divine and supernatural identity of Jesus by analyzing the narrative unfolding of the wine missed to the wine filled and proposes a model of reading which goes beyond narrativity, is intended for the emergence of the believer. this is the narrative strategy of the fourth gospel (20,31).
