국문 초록

그리스도의 첫 추종자들은 오직 유대인들 뿐이었고, 다른 유대인들은 그들을 나사렛 사람(Nazarener)이라고 불렀다. ‘기독교인’(Christen)이라는 이름이 안디옥(Antiochia)에서 생겨나고 보편화된 지 오랜 후에도 팔레스타인의 유대 기독교인들(Palästinischen Judenchristen)이 나사렛 사람이라는 옛 이름을 훨씬 더 선호했다. 그렇다면 본래의 나사렛 사람들이 그리스도의 죽음 직후에 사도들과 그리스도와 밀접한 관계로 살아온 모든 개인의 구술적 이야기를 통해서 발전된 그리스도의 생애와 가르침과 관련한 보도의 기록된 모음집을 가지고 있었다고 가정해도 되지 않겠는가? 그 모음집은 무엇이라 불렸을까? - 내 생각에 그것은 정보를 제공한 초기 권위자의 이름을 따서 사도들의 복음서(das Evangelium der Apostel)라고 부르거나, 만들어진 모음집을 주로 사용한 사람들의 이름을 따서 나사렛 사람의 복음서(das Evangelium der Nazarener), 또는 히브리인의 복음서(das Evangelium der Hebräer)라고 불렸을 것이다. 또는 개선된 형태를 처음으로 제공하거나 더 알기 쉬운 언어로 표현하기 원했던 이러저러한 개인의 이름을 따서 불렀을 것이다. 이처럼 마태복음서의 기록보다 더 오래된 그리스도에 대한 기록이 있었고, 그 30년 동안 그것은 그것의 저자들이 쓸 수 있었던 유일한 언어로 남아 있었다. 기독교가 이방인들 사이에 전파되고 히브리어나 그것의 새로운 방언을 전혀 모르는 많은 사람들이 그리스도의 인격에 관하여 더 정확한 정보를 얻고자 열망한 후에야, 그 나사렛 원자료(Nazarenische Quelle)로 돌아가서 사실상 완전히 문명화된 세계의 언어로 발췌하거나 번역하여 그토록 경건한 호기심을 충족시키는 것이 필요하고 유용하다고 여겼다.

영문 초록

The first followers of Christ were only a sect of Judaism, and other Jews called them Nazarenes. Long after the name “Christen” arose and became common in Antioch, the old name of Nazarene was much preferred by the Jewish Christians of Palestine. Could it not be assumed, then, that the original Nazarenes, shortly after Christ’s death, had a written collection of reports concerning the life and teachings of Christ, developed through the oral narratives of the apostles and of all individuals who had lived in close relationship with Christ? What was the collection called? - I think it was called the Gospels of the Apostles after the early authority who provided the information, or the Gospels of the Nazarenes, after those who mainly used the collection; or the Hebrew Gospels. Or it may have been named after one or another individual who was the first to offer an improved form or wished to express it in a more understandable language. Thus, there was a record of Christ older than that of Matthew, and for those 30 years it remained the only language available to its authors. Only after Christianity had spread among the Gentiles and many who knew nothing of Hebrew or its new dialect became eager to obtain more accurate information about the person of Christ did they return to the Nazarenische Quelle. It was deemed necessary and useful to satisfy such pious curiosity by excerpts or translations into the languages of the world.
