영문 초록

Traditional Korean sedan chair, which were used as transportation in the past, had various types of sedan chair with various shapes, structures, and decorative properties during the early the Koryo Dynasty and Joseon periods to the late Joseon periods. Unlike the early Joseon Dynasty, which regulated daily life according to its status, middle-class women began to ride kilns in the late 17th century and by the 19th century, even among common people, people who accumulated considerable wealth rode sedan chair. As such, traditional sedan chair were also used as a means of transportation during the bride s marriage or during the bride s visit to the bride s house after the late Joseon Dynasty. However, with the development of transportation since modern times, the value of traditional Korean sedan chair has been lost, and most of the traditional Korean sedan chair have disappeared, and are now used only for short periods of time or local cultural events. Currently, this is the only function of Korean traditional sedan chair. In addition, the reality is that there is a lack of effort in modern furniture design based on the exploration of the unique sculptural features of Korean traditional sedan chair, beyond historical research on historical objects that have disappeared. Therefore, this study designs modernized partitions and 3D rendering with modern digital technology reflecting the uniqueness and identity of Korean traditional sedan chair based on research on aesthetic elements and characteristics of Korean traditional sedan chair. Through this process, the purpose is to develop a modern furniture design that can continue the traditional beauty of Korean traditional sedan chair and their cultural values.
