조선조 말 부산 지역 시사(詩社)의 형성과 그 의의

국문 초록

본고는 19세기말 20세기 초 부산(釜山)의 시사(詩社)를 정리하고, 그 형성의 의미를 찾아보고자 하였다. 이 시기는 새로운 문물이 수입되고 생산되던 시기로, 문학에 있어서도 새로운 태동이 있었다. 1894년 갑오개혁으로 과거 제도가 폐지되고 여러 가지 경로로 외국문학이 들어오자 한문학은 암흑기로 들어선다. 조선조 말 부산의 지식인들은 계층을 넘어선 다양한 모임들을 통해 전통적 가치를 새롭게 조명하고, 다가오는 시대를 맞이할 준비를 하였다. 시사는 이 과정에서 대단히 중요한 역할을 차지하였다. 동래 기영회(耆英會)를 필두로 형성된 부산의 시사는 시를 읊고 즐기는 한편, 유학자들은 유학자로서의 전통 계승과 새로운 교육의 징검다리 역할을 담당하였다. 무임(武任)과 이서(吏胥) 출신들은 그들이 가지고 있는 사회적인 역할을 바탕으로 부산 지역의 전통 문화와 새로운 변화에 공동 대응하는 중추적 역할을 담당하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims at categorizing poetic societies in the Busan area around the period from the late 19th century to the early 20th century and finding out the import of their formations. It was the time when new cultural things were imported and produced and so, there was a new beginning in literature too. As the Gwageo(the national civil service examinations) was abolished through the Gabo Reform of 1894 and foreign literary works were introduced by diverse routes, Sino-Korean literature entered the dark ages. During the late Joseon dynasty, Busan intellectuals prepared for the coming era by newly illuminating traditional values through a variety of gatherings overcoming social classes. Poetic societies played an immensely pivotal role in the course. Dongnae Giyeonghoi(耆英會) and other Busan poetic societies took pleasure in reciting poems while Confucian scholars devoted themselves to the role of a stepping-stone in inheriting traditional heritages and adopting new education. Military officers and administrative officials took a key role on the basis of their respective social status in commonly reacting to new changes concerning traditional culture in the Busan area.
