한국의 병역제도에 관한 남녀 대학생 간의 인식 차이

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 젊은 남녀 대학생 193명을 대상으로 한국의 병역제도에 관한 구체적인 내용들을 설문 조사하여 분석하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구의 자료 처리는 SPSSWIN 27을 이용하여 수행되었다. 구체적으로, 독립표본 t 검정과 X²(카이스퀘어) 검정을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 현행 징병제의 타당성에 대한 인식에서는 남녀 간에 통계학적으로 유의한 차이는 없으나, 단순 평균 비교로 보면 여학생이 남학생보다 더 현행 징병제가 타당하다고 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 징병제의 보상 제공에 대한 인식에서는 유의수준 .001에서 남녀 간 성별에 따라 징병제의 보상 제공에 대한 인식에 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 남학생이 여학생보다 징병제의 보상 제공에 더 찬성하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 여성의 군 복무 유형에 대한 인식에서는 남학생과 여학생 모두 ‘여성에 적합한 군 복무’, ‘사회봉사’ 순으로 타당하다고 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 군 복무자의 보상 유형에 대한 인식에서는 남학생과 여학생 모두 ‘경력 인정’, ‘경제적 보상’, ‘가산점’ 순으로 타당하다고 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 미래의 병역제도 방식의 타당성에 대한 인식에서는 남학생과 여학생 모두 ‘군대 가지 않는 여성에 대한 세금 부과’, ‘남자만 징병제’ 순으로 타당하다고 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 한국의 병역제도에 관한 문제는 최근 사회적으로 이슈가 되고 있는 ‘공정성’의 맥락에서 매우 중요한 의미를 갖는다. 한국의 병역제도를 진정한 공정성과 성평등의 차원에서 사회적으로 논의해볼 가치가 있다. 나라마다 처한 사정이 다르므로 한국의 맥락에서 병역제도 이슈를 타당하게 공론화하고, 이에 관한 연구도 활성화해나갈 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the specific contents of the military conscription system in Korea by surveying 193 young male and female university students. For this purpose, data processing of this study was performed using SPSSWIN 27. Specifically, independent sample t-test and X2(Kai Square) test were conducted. The results of this study are as follows: First, there was no statistically significant difference in the perception of the validity of the current conscription system between male and female, but in simple average comparison, it was found that female students perceived the current conscription system more valid than male students. Second, in the recognition of the compensation of conscription system, there was a significant difference in the recognition of the compensation of conscription system according to gender between men and women at the significance level of .001. In other words, male students were more in favor of providing conscription compensation than female students. Third, in the recognition of women s military service type, both male and female students perceived it as appropriate in order of military service suitable for women and social service . Fourth, in the recognition of the compensation type of military service workers, both male and female students perceived it as appropriate in the order of career approval , economic compensation , and additional point . Fifth, in the recognition of the validity of the future military recruitment method, both male and female students perceived it as appropriate in the order of tax on female who do not go to the army and man only conscription system .
