성인초기 여성의 발달적 과제와 교육목회의 책임

국문 초록

성인초기는 청소년기와 성인초기가 연결되는 성인초기 과도기(17-22세)로 시작하여 성인중기 과도기가 시작되는 40-45세 이전까지에 해당한다. 약 20년 동안의 성인초기에 성인들은 성인이라는 새로운 삶의 계절로 넘어가기 위한 과도기를 거쳐 성인초기의 새로운 삶의 구조를 형성하게 되며, 또 다시 30세를 전후하여 삶의 구조를 검증하고 수정하는 30세의 과도기를 거치게 된다. 30세의 과도기를 성공적으로 지나게 되면 성인기의 안정된 정착기(33-40세)를 맞게 된다. 그러나 이러한 성인초기의 안정은 또 다시 성인중기 과도기를 맞아 새로운 변화와 발달의 과제에 직면하게 된다. 이처럼 성인초기 20년은 인생의 어느 시기보다 역동적이며 끝없는 변화와 성장의 시기인 것이다. 그러므로 성인초기 여성의 발달적 과제를 미리 예측하고 격려하는 교육목회적인 노력이 절실히 필요하다. 여성들의 발달의 과정을 예측하고 격려하며, 삶의 위기들을 극복하고 그 위기들을 통해 새로운 삶의 의미들을 깨닫도록 양육하는 교육목회적인 노력이 있다면 여성들은 보다 지혜롭고 성숙하게 성인초기의 발달적 과제들을 풀어나갈 수 있을 것이다. 더불어 보다 주체적이고 성찰적인 신앙을 형성하기 위해 전통적인 가치체계와 제도들에 대해 질문하고 새로운 대안들을 모색하도록 격려하고, 여성들의 삶을 공유할 수 있는 예전적인 노력과 산파적이고 후원적인 신앙공동체를 형성하기 위한 노력이 이루어진다면 성인초기 여성들은 기독교 공동체 안에서 보다 성숙한 신앙인으로 성장해 나갈 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Becoming an adult woman is increasingly recognized as a complex process that includes changes in biological, cognitive, emotional, social, moral and spiritual dimensions. These developmental crises and tasks present opportunities for personal maturity and spiritual growth. During the long period of the early adulthood, women may develop mature self-identity as an adult and construct a new life structure. Women also may develop more subjective, procedural, and constructive ways of thinking. In the moral thinking, women may develop more mature abilities of moral judgement by considering both the ethics of justice and care. Women also can have mature understandings of woman s body and sexuality. Based on these developments, women may form more individuative and reflective faith defined by James Fowler. For the mature spirituality of women in the early adulthood, educational ministry has many important responsibilities. First of all, educational ministry can help women to confront the transitions and life crises and to search for the religious meanings of their own lives. Second, educational ministry also needs to encourage women to ask dangerous questions that can challenge false stereotypes and traditions and to find out alternative ways and visions. Third, educational ministry may help women to share, heal, and celebrate their life experiences through diverse religious rituals. Finally, educational ministry may help women to create meaningful relationships such as midwife and mentor and a mentoring community that is a meaningful network of belonging.
