익산지역 고대 취락의 양상과 성격

국문 초록

익산지역은 지리적으로 금강유역과 만경강유역권에 포함되며 봉화산-미륵산-천호산 등의 분수계가 두 유역권의 경계가 된다. 재지의 송국리문화와 수차례에 걸친 외부문화의 유입으로 형성된 마한의 취락은 각 수계를 따라 분포하는데 그 가운데 만경강유역권의 장신리 취락과 사덕 취락은 중심취락으로 볼 수 있다. 중심취락은 수백 기의 주거지와 주요 생산기반을 갖추며 3~400년에 걸쳐 지속되는 특징이 있다. 마한의 취락은 5세기를 전후하여 토기제작기술과 주거지 내 부뚜막의 축조재료 및 구조가 변화하는데 그 배경은 백제의 남진으로 인한 백제문화의 유입으로 설명된다. 백제계 주거지의 축조 주체는 재지의 마한인이며, 백제 주거지 및 건물지는 6세기 중반 이후 백제 중앙세력과 관련된 것으로 볼 수 있다. 그 중심지는 익산의 왕궁·금마 일원이며 인근 군산·김제지역에서 확인되는 백제 건물지 또한 중앙에서 파견된 상위계층과 관련된 건물지로 추정된다.

영문 초록

Geographically, Iksan region belongs to the sphere of Geumgang and Mangyeonggang River basins, and the watershed connecting Mts. Bonghwa, Mireuk, and Cheonho forms a boundary between the two river basins. The ancient settlements which were formed in Iksan region thanks to local Songguk-ri culture and several times of influx of foreign cultures are all located in the low, flat terrain along each water system. Among them, Jangsin-ri and Sadeok settlements in the Mangyeonggang River basin may be rated as the central villages of Mahan, because hundreds of dwellings and major production bases in them have the characteristics of lasting for a considerable period of time. In the villages of Mahan, earthenware production technology and construction materials and structure of the stoves in the dwelling sites changed approximately before and after the 5th century, the background of which may be explained by the inflow of Baekje culture subsequent to its southward advance. The main power group of the Baekje residential area seems to have been the local Mahan people, and the Baekje residential areas and building sites are believed to be related to the central Baekje power after the middle of the 6th century. The center of this region is Wanggung and Geumma areas in Iksan, and the Baekje building sites identified in the nearby Gunsan and Gimje areas are also presumed to have something to do with the building sites which were related to the upper classes dispatched from the capital of Baekje.
