한국어교육에서 플립러닝을 이용한 신조어 수업 방안 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 두 가지 문제의 접점을 찾는 데에서 출발한다. 하나는 중고급 수준의 한국어 학습자에게 ‘교재 밖’에 있는 신조어를 가르쳐야 할 필요성이 커지고 있다는 점이며, 다른 하나는 매체를 활발하게 활용하는 신세대 학습자들에게 적합한 교수법이 필요하다는 점이다. 신조어 사용이 일상화되어 신조어를 제대로 알지 못하면 문식력이 떨어지게 될 정도이다. 이 연구에서는 교육의 필요성이 증가하고 있는 교재 밖에 있는 신조어를 어떤 방법으로 학습시킬 것인지에 대한 문제를 다룬다. 최근 관심을 받고 있는 플립러닝(Flipped learning)은 교수자의 강의를 온라인을 이용해 교실 밖에서 하고, 기존의 교실 밖에서 하던 개별적인 과제 활동은 학습자와 교수자의 상호작용이 가능한 교실 안으로 옮긴 형태로서 변화한 학습자와 교육 환경을 반영한다. 신조어 형성 규칙과 그 어휘에 포함된 문화를 찾아내기 위해 탐구 중심, 학습자 중심의 수업이 필요하다는 점에서 플립러닝 교수법을 택해, 학부 외국인 유학생들이 배우기 원하는 신조어를 조사하여 교양 글쓰기 수업에 이를 적용해 보았다. 이 연구는 이와 같은 사례 연구를 통해 교재에 넣기 어려웠던 교재 밖 어휘를 가르치기 위한 방법으로 택한 플립러닝이 학습자들의 어휘 능력을 얼마나 향상시킬 수 있는지 검증해 보는 데 목적을 두었다. 생산성이 큰 조어 단위인 ‘-권’을 선정하여 플립러닝 기법으로 수업을 한 결과 학생들은 신조어에 나타난 어휘 형성 규칙을 알고 자신만의 신조어를 만들었으며, 그 신조어 속에 담긴 문화를 찾아낼 수 있었다. 이러한 문제 해결은 조별 활동 시간에 토의, 토론을 통하여 이루어졌다. 플립러닝은 교재 속에 즉시 반영하기 어려운 신조어의 형성 규칙과 의미를 이해하는 데 도움을 주었으며, 교실 수업에 문제 해결 학습(PBL)을 적용하여 학습자 중심 수업이 되도록 하는 효과가 있었다.

영문 초록

This study starts from finding the point of contact between the two problems. First, there is a growing need to teach Korean language learners at the middle and high level the new words “outside the textbook”. How to teach them effectively? What s more, you can t teach all new words, so how will you lead to vocabulary expansion? Next, how will you learn new words outside the textbook? What effect will it have if you use a flip-learning teaching method suitable for new generations of learners who actively use the medium, lead to learner-centered classes, revitalize the class, and supplement the limitations of printed textbooks? By researching new words that undergraduate international students want to learn, the Flipped Learning teaching method was applied to the liberal arts writing class. Through this case study, we tried to verify how much the flipped learning, which was chosen as a method to teach vocabulary outside the textbook, which was difficult to include in the textbook, can improve the vocabulary skills of learners. Affixes with high productivity (-kwon, -chin), proto-syllable words (chinchu, eoljuka, jeommechuhae, dangmochi, byeoldajul, masang, kagong), mixed words (Suggestion of vocabulary related to COVID-19: sangsangkorona, geumseukeu, jipkokjok, isigugyeohaeng, hwakjjinja, salcheonji, jagagyeongni, koronabeullu, magikkun) was created, and the culture contained in the new word was found. These problems were resolved through discussions and discussions during group activities. In this way, flip-learning helped to understand the rules and meanings of new words that are difficult to immediately reflect in the textbook, and applied problem-solving learning(PBL) to classroom instruction so that it became a learner-centered class.
