국문 초록

북향여성들은 북한과 남한의 체제를 온몸으로 경험한 남북분단의 산 증인이자 아픔이다. 지금까지 북향여성의 이익은 남북분단이라는 이름 아래 남성에 의해 지배당하고 억눌려왔다. 북향여성은 장기간 폭력에 쉽게 노출당해 왔음에도, 남북관계의 현실적 문제들에 부딪쳐 조명받지 못했다. 북한 특유의 남성 중심 가부장적 문화와 남성우월주의가 북향여성들의 의식 기저에 작동하고 있기 때문이다. 북향여성이 겪는 문제는 그들의 선택이 아닌 냉전시대의 산물로 원하지 않은 삶을 살게 되었다는 데에 있다. 냉전체제의 그림자는 ‘국가안보’라는 이름으로 ‘국가폭력’이 되어 북향여성을 포함한 모든 북향민들에게 반영되고 그들을 옭아매고 있다. 인간안보를 기초로 한 페미니즘 관점의 시각은 기존의 냉전 체제와 군사주의적 논리를 극복하고 걷어낼 수 있는 중요한 관점이다. 페미니즘 인간안보를 통해 여성의 비안보 문제를 가시화하고 기존의 국가 중심적 시각에서 벗어나 ‘인간’을 중심으로 안보 개념을 확장할 때, 새로운 남북관계를 도모할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

North Korean women defectors are living witnesses and pain in the division of the two Koreas who have experienced the regime of North and South Korea with their whole bodies. So far, the interests of North Korean women defectors have been dominated and suppressed by men under the name of the division of the two Koreas. Violence against North Korean women defectors has existed for a long time, but has not been illuminated in the reality of the division of the two Koreas. This is because North Korea’s unique male-centered patriarchal culture and male supremacy are working as the basis for the consciousness of North Korean women defectors. The problem facing women in the north lies not in their choice, but in their unwanted lives as a product of the Cold War. The remnants of the Cold War system are projected on all North Koreans, including North Korean women defectors, in the form of “national violence” under the pretext of “national security.” Feminist views based on human security are required in terms of overcoming and removing the existing Cold War system and militarist logic. By visualizing women’s non-security issues through feminism’s human security and expanding the concept of security around humans, not countries, will be able to promote new inter-Korean relations.
