지체장애인 재활보조기구 사용 실태와 만족도 및 일상생활 자립도

국문 초록

본 연구는 지체장애인을 위한 재활보조기구의 공급 및 적용의 보다 효율적인 정책 방향을 제시함과 동시에 그들의 일상생활 자립도를 검토하고자 하였다. 이에 따라 경상지역에 거주하고 있는 지체장애인(N=188명) 표본을 대상으로 설문지법을 이용하여 그들의 재활보조기구 사용 실태 및 만족도, 그리고 일상생활에서의 자립도에 관하여 조사하고, 기초통계량(빈도, 백분율) 및 x2검증 등의 통계적 기법을 이용하여 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 주된 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 지체장애인은 전반적으로 상하지 보조기 보다 휠체어를 사용하는 비율(95.2%)이 높게 나타났다. 이들의 휠체어 사용은 성별, 연령별, 장애등급별 등의 변인에 따라 사용시간, 사용장소, 사용 휠체어의 종류 등에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 또한 이 휠체어의 사용은 실내외에 모두 사용되는 경우가 대부분 일뿐만 아니라 사용 시간에 있어서도 하루 종일(13,8%) 및 12시간 이상(21.3%)에서 약 35% 이상으로 높게 나타나 지체장애인의 높은 휠체어 의존율을 알 수 있었다. 이 결과는 일상생활 전반에 걸쳐 편리한 기능성 휠체어의 공급 확대 및 휠체어 접근성을 고려한 환경 수정의 필요성을 시사한다. 둘째, 재활보조기구에 대한 지체장애인의 만족도는 사용훈련, 기능, 품질 영역에서 전반적으로 보통 수준으로 나타난 반면, 정책에 대한 만족도는 보통에서 불만족 수준에 걸쳐 약 80%로 나타났으며, 이러한 경향은 40대 이상의 고연령대에서 더욱 높은 경향을 나타내고 있었다. 이 결과는 휠체어 사용자의 연령대를 고려한 휠체어 사용훈련, 기능, 품질, 그리고 만족도를 개선하기 위한 다각적인 연구 및 지원 노력의 필요성을 시사한다. 셋째, 지체장애인의 일상생활의 완전 자립도는 목욕, 식사, 용변처리, 착탈의 등 기본적인 일상생활 영역에서조차 약 20-40% 수준으로 낮게 나타났다. 이러한 경향은 연령대가 낮을수록, 그리고 뇌병변장애인일수록 더욱 높은 경향을 나타내고 있었다. 이 결과는 지체장애인의 일상생활자립도 개선을 위한 다양한 재활복지기구의 공급 및 훈련의 필요성과 함께 복지차원의 지원을 더욱 다양하게 확대해야 함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the present study was to suggest effective policies relating the provision and application of rehabilitative aids for people with physical disabilities and examine their level of independence in terms of daily living activities. A total of 188 people with physical disabilities in Gyeongsang-Do was surveyed to investigate the practice and the level of satisfaction in the use of rehabilitative aids. The level of daily living independence of the participants was also examined. The survey data was analyzed by descriptive statistics and chi-square, and the results were as follow. First, most of the participants(95.2%) responded that they used wheelchairs to move more frequently than other rehabilitative aids. Statistical differences were founded by some variables like sex, age level, the severity of disabilities in terms of time and location of use and types of the wheelchairs. The participants heavily relied upon the wheelchairs to move; they used the wheelchairs both in and out of buildings and 13.8% of them used the wheelchairs all day while 21.3% used the wheelchairs more than 12 hours a day. These results showed that it was necessary to adjust environments considering the wheelchair access and extend the provision of wheelchairs that are more functional in all the areas of daily living activities. Second, the level of satisfaction in the use of the rehabilitative aids was not so high in the areas of user training, function, and the qualities, whereas the satisfaction level of policy was relatively low; 80% of the respondents rated the policy as between not satisfactory and the normal range. This tendencies were very obvious to the respondents aged more than 40. These results suggested systematic efforts to improve the user training, function, and the quality of wheelchairs. Finally, the independence level of daily living activities especially in the areas of self-help was very low ranged between 20%~40%. This tendency was very clear to the low age level group and the people who had cerebral palsy. These results indicated that it was necessary to extend the welfare supports and the provision and training of various types of rehabilitative aids in order to improve the independence level of daily living for people with physical disabilities.
