국문 초록

본 연구는 북한 이탈주민들중 제3국으로 이주하여 난민 신청을 하였으나 거부당하고 한국으로 귀환한 후의 삶에 대한 연구이다. 연구의 목적은 북한 이탈주민들의 탈남의 개인, 사회적 조건과 귀환 후의 삶에 대한 실체이론을 제시하는데에 있다. 연구자들은 연구 참여자들의 탈남 원인과 맥락과 같은 구조적 문제와 귀환 후의 삶을 분석했다. 본 연구에는 13명의 남성 북한 이탈주민들이 참여했다. 자료는 심층 면담을 통해 구성했고, Strauss와 Corbin(1998)이 제시한 근거이론 연구 절차에 따라 수행했다. 개방 코딩에서는 89개의 개념, 30개의 하위 범주, 12개의 범주를 구성했다. 축 코딩에서는 개방 코딩에서 구성한 범주를 인과적 조건, 맥락적 조건, 현상, 중재적 조건, 작용 및 상호작용, 결과의 패러다임 모형에 재배열했다. 인과적 조건으로 소수자의 지위, 필요에 따른 포섭과 배제, 발전의 정체, 맥락적 조건으로는 자녀를 위한 도전, 흔들리는 희망, 실낙원에서 복락원의 비전, 막다른 상황에서의 옵션, 현상으로는 사회적 유폐, 중재적 조건으로는 유령의 존재 양식, 작용/상호작용으로는 자기 은닉, 희생양 만들기, 결과로는 주변부에서 맴돌기로 구성했다. 이러한 모든 경험을 아우르는 핵심 범주는 남한이라는 형제의 땅에서 차별과 배제를 경험하고 탈출구를 찾아 해외로 망명하고자 했으나 다시 한국으로 귀환한 후 주변부 삶을 사는 것으로 제시했다. 연구자들은 연구 결과에 근거하여 논의와 제언을 했다.

영문 초록

This study is a grounded theory study on the life of The North Korean defectors who moved to another countryies and applied for refugee. but were rejected and returned to South Korea. The aim of research were to suppose the substantive throry about prtsonal, social conditions of the escape of South Korea and the life after return to South Korea. We analyzed cause of escape and it’s context. Thirteen male North Korean defectors’ participated in this study. The data were constructed through in-depth interviews. The authors analyzed data according to the grounded theory research procedure suggested by Strauss and Corbin (1998). The result of study as follows: In open coding we consisted 89 concepts, 30 subcategories, and 12 categories. In axial coding we rearranged the categories into a paradigm model. Causal conditions were status of minority, inclusion and exclusion as South Koreans’ perspective, stagnation of their development. Contextual conditions were challenge for their children, faltering hope, vision of pradise in lost paradise, options in a deadend situations. Phenomenon was social confinement. Intervening condition was being mode as ghost. Action/interactions were self hide, making scape goat. Consequence was hovering around surroundings. Core category were supposed as follows: The participants moved as refugees to another countries because of discrimination and exclusion in the South Korea but they returned to South Korea and their daily life is surroundings. The researchers discussed about research results and made suggestions.
