비대면 대학 교육과정과 수업에 대한 통합적 연구

국문 초록

코로나 19로 인해 우리는 비대면이 일상이 되는 뉴노멀 사회에 살고 있다. 이러한 전염성 질환의 확산은 대학 교육의 양상 또한 순식간에 변화시켰다. 모든 대학에서 대부분의 수업은 비대면으로 전환되었으며 이에 따라 많은 대학 교수자와 학습자들은 새로운 상황에 적응하는 한 해를 보내야 했다. 이에 따라 비대면 대학 강의/수업의 양상을 이해하고 문제점을 탐색하여 개선방안을 마련하려는 학술적 노력이 한창 진행중이다. 이에 연구자들은 통합연구방법을 통해 우리나라 대학의 교수자와 학습자의 비대면 강의/수업에 대한 인식, 어려움, 불만족을 규명하고자 본 연구를 수행하였다. 연구 결과 대학 비대면 교육의 쟁점으로 ‘학습자와의 의사소통 문제, 그리고 답답함을 느끼는 교수자’, ‘교수/학습 방법의 다양성 감소와 학습자에 대한 낮은 기대’, ‘비실시간 강의의 편의성에 감추어진 학습효과’, ‘상호작용의 어려움이 초래하는 학습자의 불만족과 소극적 태도’, ‘비대면 학생 평가: 공정성을 의심하는 학생들 그리고 다양성과 피드백 부족’이 드러났다. 연구자들은 다섯 가지 쟁점에 대한 논의에 기초하여 교수자의 어려움과 학생들의 불만족을 개선할 수 있는 실제적 제안을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The Covid-19 pandemic drove our lives into a new normal state where no-contact becomes the norm. The pandemic quickly changed almost all aspects of higher education. Most universities decided to turn their courses from traditional face-to-face instruction to distance learning in online classrooms. Under the circumstance, university faculties and students have spent the year of 2020 for adjusting themselves to the changed situation. Quickly responding to the crisis, academic communities around the world have been working to identify instructional challenges and come up with strategies to rectify such difficulties. In this respect, the authors conducted this mixed-method research to understand perception, challenges, and dissatisfaction of university instructors and students in South Korea. As the result, the researchers identified five central issues as follows (1) the lack of physical and emotional interaction with students, (2) reduction in diversity of instructions and lowered expectations on students’ performance, (3) questioned effectiveness of students’ learning hidden behind the convenience of virtual classes and distance learning, (4) students’ dissatisfaction and passive attitude caused by the lack of interaction with peers and instructors, and (5) students questioning about the fairness in no-contact student evaluation and the lack of feedback on evaluation. Based on the discussion on these five issues, the researchers made suggestions to address the challenges and dissatisfaction of Korean faculties and university students.
