국문 초록

이 연구는 트랜스젠더 자녀를 둔 어머니인 연구자가 트랜스젠더에 대한 근거 없는 편견인 무지의 베일을 벗고, 인식의 확장으로 나아가는 자기성찰을 자문화기술지로 보여주고자 한다. 연구 목적은 연구자의 자기 성찰을 통해 트랜스젠더 자녀의 정신적 건강에 이르는 가족지지 기능과 문화적·사회적 차원에서의 의의를 찾고자 하였다. 연구방법으로는 자문화기술지 연구방법을 사용하였으며 연구자료 수집은 자기회상자료, 가족·친구와의 카카오 톡 대화자료, 일기자료 등을 통해 이루어졌다. 자료를 분석한 결과는 개인내적 경험성찰과 사회관계적 경험성찰로 기술하였다. 먼저 개인내적 경험성찰은 ‘나에 대한 인식의 지평 넓히기’의 대 주제는 ‘의문 없이 사회편견을 내면화 한 나’, ‘상실감에서 분노의 눈물’, ‘건강한 내가 되어 자녀의 울타리 되어주기’의 소주제로 도출하였다. 그리고 사회관계적 경험성찰은 ‘다시 마음을 잇는 소통하기’의 대 주제는 ‘거부했던 이들에게 다시 다가가기’, ‘나의 커밍아웃을 지지해주는 사람들’, ‘희생자에서 사회변화의 주체자 되기’의 소주제로 도출하였다. 본 연구가 트랜스젠더 자녀를 포함한 성소수자 당사자에 대한 이해를 높이고 비성소수자의 사회적 지지의 중요성이 부각될 수 있기를 바란다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 의의와 후속연구를 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This paper aims to show the self-examination of a researcher who is a mother of transgender children, taking off the veil of ignorance, from the ungrounded prejudice against transgender people, and advancing toward the expansion of awareness, using the method of an auto-ethnography. The purpose of the study was to find out the significance in the cultural and social dimension and family support leading to the mental health of transgender children through the researcher’s self-reflection. As a research method, the auto-ethnography research method was used. Research data were collected through self-recall materials, conversation with family and friends on SNS (Kakao Talk), and personal diary. The results of analyzing the data were described as reflection on personal experience and reflection on social relational experience. First of all, under the main theme of ‘Expanding the horizon of my own perception’ the following sub-themes were drawn: ‘I, internalizing social prejudice without question’, ‘Tears of anger from sense of loss’, and ‘Being healthy myself and being a fence to protect your children’. In addition, under the main themes of ‘Communicating heart to heart again’ the sub-themes is drawn:Reaching back to those who rejected’ , ‘People who support my coming out’, and ‘From a victim to a member to lead social change’. We hope that this study will boost the understanding of LGBTQ people, including transgender children, and the importance of social support of non-LPGTQs. Based on the research results, the significance of this study and subsequent studies were discussed.
