중등 수학 영재의 독창성에 관한 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 중등 수학 영재의 독창성은 어떠한 형태로 발현되고, 독창성이 높은 중등 수학 영재는 전반적으로 어떠한 인지적, 정의적 특성을 보이는지 분석하여 수학 영재 교육 등을 통하여 독창성 함양을 위한 시사점을 모색하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 수학 영재교육을 받고 있는 중학생을 대상으로 장기적인 관찰과 심층 면담을 활용하여 질적 분석을 하였다. 분석 결과 독창성이 높은 중등 수학 영재로부터 7가지의 특성(수학적 능력, 수학적 의사소통능력, 메타인지, 자기주도학습, 수학적 사고 과정의 융통성, 수학적 성향, 학습 습관)을 찾을 수 있고, 영재 교육에서 독창성과 관련하여 다음과 같이 제언하였다. 융복합과제와 같은 새로운 분야의 도전적인 과제나 우수한 개방형 문제(Open-ended Problem)들을 수행할 기회를 제공함으로써 독창성을 계발하고 발현시킬 수 있도록 지원할 수 있다. 그리고 독창성 함양을 위해 교육환경(교실, 학교, 학부모)과 교사의 교수 방법 등에서 심도 있는 연구와 실천적인 방법 모색이 필요하다. 마지막으로 영재수업이 아닌 일반 수학 교실에서도 독창성 함양을 위해 같은 노력이 적용되어야 한다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed what form the originality of middle school mathematics gifted student was represented, and what cognitive and affective characteristics of high-original middle school mathematics gifted students are generally shown. And we tried to find ways to enhance originality through mathematics gifted education. For this purpose, qualitative analysis was conducted using long-term observations and in-depth interviews with middle school students who were receiving education for gifted students in mathematics. According to the analysis, seven characteristics, 1) mathematical ability, 2) mathematical communication ability, 3) meta-cognition, 4) self-directed learning, 5) flexibility of mathematical thinking process, 6) mathematical tendency, and 7) learning habits were found from the highly original(novel) middle school mathematics gifted students, and the following suggestions were made regarding originality in gifted education. By providing opportunities to carry out rich open-ended problems or challenging tasks in new fields such as convergence tasks, we can support the development and representation of originality. In addition, in-depth research and investigating practical methods are needed in the educational environment(classroom, school, parents) and teachers teaching methods to cultivate originality. Lastly, the same efforts are necessary so that general students can cultivate originality in school math classes, not just in gifted classes.
