국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 외국 고등학교 교육과정에서 선택과목을 어떻게 구성하고 있는지를 살펴봄으로써 우리나라 고등학교 선택과목 구성 논리에 대한 시사점을 얻는 데 있다. 이를 위해 모든 나라에서 교과로 선정하고 있으면서 타 교과 학습에 도움을 주는 도구 교과 역할을 하고 학문적으로 계통성이 강한 수학 교과를 중심으로 고찰하고자 한다. 수학 선택과목 구성 현황을 분석하기 위해 대상으로 삼은 국가는 아시아의 일본, 중국, 싱가포르, 북미지역의 미국(캘리포니아주)와 캐나다(BC주), 유럽의 영국, 핀란드, 오세아니아의 호주와 뉴질랜드 등 총 9개국이다. 각국의 고등학교 수학과 교육과정에 제시된 과목의 구조와 성격, 내용을 귀납적으로 분석하여 선택 교육과정에서의 필수 지정 여부, 학생 개인의 진로 반영, 수학의 내용 위계성 반영, 대학입학시험과의 관련성, 학생들의 이수 경로의 특징을 도출하였고, 고등학생을 위한 종결교육으로서의 필수 내용 선정, 진학에 따른 계속교육으로서의 계열별 내용 선정, 과목 내용 위계의 명료화, 나선형 교육과정의 도입, 논리 간의 우선순위 결정을 선택과목 구성의 논리 탐색 방안으로 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to find out how the selective courses are organized in foreign high school curriculum, and to obtain implications for the composition of the selective courses in Korean high schools. In particular, this study is to focus upon mathematics which is selected as a subject in all countries, serves as a tool subject to help other subjects learn, and has a strong academic system. The objects of this study are nine countries including Japan, China, Singapore in Asian Area, the United States(California), Canada(British Columbia) in north American area, Great Britain, Finland in Europe, and Australia and New Zealand in Oceania. The purpose of this study is to explore the logic of the composition of mathematics selection subjects based on some common points extracted by inductively analyzing the structure, characteristics and contents of the subjects presented in high school mathematics curriculums in each country. The criteria for analysis are whether to designate a necessity in the selection curriculum, reflecting the career of the student, reflecting the contents hierarchy of mathematics, relevance to the university entrance examination, and the course of completion of the students.
