국문 초록

기업혁신 성과는 일련의 성공요인들의 상호작용에 의해 이루어지는 매우 복잡한 과정을 거쳐 생성된 결과물이다. 본 연구는 기업혁신 성과에 대한 기업지배구조와 연구개발투자 관련성을 분석하였다. 특히 본 연구는 기업 혁신활동에서 연구개발투자와 기업지배구조가 기업의 내적요인으로서 어떤 역할을 수행하는가를 분석하는 것을 주요 연구목적으로 하였다. 분석결과는 기업혁신에 대한 연구개발투자의 다양한 측면 중 연구개발자본화가치 만이 유의한 관련성이 존재하는 것으로 나타나고, 이는 단순한 연구개발투자 경험 또는 연구개발투자 수준이 아니라 연구개발투자가 기업의 미래 이익으로 얼마나 전환되는가에 따라 연구개발 활동의 성과가 결정됨을 보여주는 결과로 볼 수 있다. 또한 본 연구결과 중 기업혁신과 주요대주주의 유의한 양(+)의 관련성은 일반 소액주주보다 기업 내부정보 획득용이성과 지배주주의 감시비용 부담의 효율성 때문에 연구개발투자와 같은 대규모 투자자원과 위험이 큰 의사결정문제에서 지배주주를 연구개발투자를 지지하는 보호막으로 작용하고 있음을 보여주었다.

영문 초록

This study presents novel empirical evidence on the effect of R&D on innovation, as well as on the role played by blockhloders in enhancing the likelihood of introducing innovations. In order to assess the effect of innovation on productivity, we estimate a Cobb-Douglas production in long differences, augmented with materials, capital and labor. One distinguishing feature of our paper is the focus on both R&D innovation effect and blockholders. The relation between firm innovation and R&D summarizes additional information about the effect of R&D on innovation by our sample of Korean firms and about the relation between R&D and innovation. In our econometric work, we find a positive, statistically significant and sizeable effect of blockholders on innovation. This implies that there may be an important role for blockholders in favoring firms’ innovation process. The results presented show: (1) the impact of R&D capital stock on firm’s innovation, in terms of productivity, (2) in particular, the level of blockholders in industry, is positively affected the firm’s innovation.
