국문 초록

최근 합병 이후의 두 조직의 통합과정에 대한 연구들이 활발하게 진행되고 있지만 기존의 연구들은 합병이전의 문제와는 단절되어 어떻게 하여야 완전한 통합을 이룰 수 있을 것인가 하는 문제에 초점을 맞추다 보니 실제 통합의 효율적인 도구인 통합 방법의 선택에 대한 연구는 미진하다. 본 연구는 통합에 있어서 여러 가지 통합전략의 선택의 문제에 초점을 맞추어 통합과정에 실질적인 도움을 주기 위해서는 통합유형의 구분과 환경적 특성, 조직구조, 기업성과의 관련성을 설정하였다. 실증적 연구를 위한 구체적인 통합 전략유형의 구분은 전략적 상호연관성과 조직의 자율성의 정도의 정도에 따라 보존형, 공생형, 유보형, 흡수형으로 구분되어졌으며 각각의 유형을 잘 보여 줄 수 있는 환경의 불확실성과 조직구조와 같은 상황변수의 관계를 도출하여 문화적 통합전략에 대한 연구의 기반을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Although a number of scholars have asserted that PMI cultural integration leads high levels of performance, there have been few empirical studies in which the impact of PMI culture on corporate performance is tested in Korean post-merger firms. Furthermore, most empirical studies have related organizational culture to the psychological performance (such as organizational commitment and job satisfaction), but very few empirical studies have related that to corporate financial performance. This study investigates the effects of PMI strategic type and context and financial performance in Korean firms.The PMI data were collected 52 firms from listed firms using a survey instrument based on the DART system. In addition, the financial performance data of the sample firms were collected from survey instrument.The results showed that the financial performance was positively related to four cultural types (holding, absrption, preserve, symbiotic), but was not significantly related to the cultural type. The environmental uncertainty and organizational structure was positively related to four cultural types (holding, absorption, preserve, symbiotic). The relationships between cultural PMI type and corporate financial performance were also less significant.
