국문 초록

본 연구는 국내 손해보험산업 경영평가를 하기 위하여 10개 손해보험회사들의 경영실적을 바탕으로 국내 CAMEL방식 기준에 의거하여 각 경영지표 부문별 및 전체점수를 산정하였다. 경영평가부문은 자본적정성, 자산건전성, 수익성, 유동성 부문 등이며 도출된 결과를 근거로 국내 손해보험 산업에 주는 시사점 및 개선점을 도출하였다. 국내 손해보험산업은 상위사 그룹과 하위사 그룹이 현저한 차이로 인하여 시장 양극화 현상이 심화되고 있고 보험시장 구도가 시장의 힘에 의해 재편되고 있다. 한 예로 상위사 그룹인 경우는 종합점수 70점 이상 안전성과 유동성이 뛰어난 우량회사라 할 수 있다. 그러나 하위사 그룹인 경우는 종합점수 50점 미만으로 모든 평가부문에서 개선이 필요하고 특히 성장이 침체상태에 빠져 있어 성장관리 및 이익관리, 자본관리를 중심으로 한 내실을 꾀하는 근본적인 경영대책이 필요하다고 하겠다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to assess the financial strength of domestic property-liability insurers by using CAMEL technique. Ten domestic non-life insurers are selected as examples. The quantitative evaluation is done in 4 key areas; capital adequacy, asset quality, profitability, and liquidity. This study indicates that some domestic insurers have to improve profitability and efficiency areas to endure as a competitive going-concern. Domestic insurers should have a strong financial structure with quality management. They should strive to strengthen financial soundness through profitability and efficiency. It also provides evidence that there is a big gap between domestic large insurers and small insures in all areas. Therefore, small domestic insurers especially, should focus on long-term management objective. In order to survive and cope with rapid changes of financial environment, they should be concerned with competition by the market share and with operation efficiency and profitability.
