신사임당(申師任堂)의 보육철학에 기초한 부모역할연구

국문 초록

본 논고는 신사임당의 보육철학이 현대인에게 주는 바람직한 부모의 역할에 대해 이해하고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 신사임당의 보육철학에 대한 우수성을 본받아야 한다는 데는 다수가 인정하지만 이를 연구한 선행연구가 국내외에 없다. 가족의 중요한 기능 중 하나인 보육을 모범적인 신사임당의 보육철학에 기초하여, 바움린드(Baumrind)의 부모양육태도유형 모델을 통해 분석하고 제시한다. 신사임당이 낳은 자녀에게도 개인차가 있으므로 부모양육태도에 개인차를 둔 바움린드의 모델을 통해 분석하는 것은 유의미 하다. 특히, 율곡과는 다르게 어려운 환경에서도 대학자의 삶을 모범적으로 살았던 퇴계 이황을 통해 실천적 요소를 고려하는 것에 의의가 있다. 우리나라는 근대화의 추진 과정에서 눈부신 경제발전을 이루어왔고, 이러한 노력에 힘입어 높은 수준의 경제적 성과를 이루게 되었다. 여기에 여성자원의 잠재력 또한 경제발전에 기여한 부분을 배제 할 수 없다. 사실상 여성의 경제활동은 가정생활과 직장생활을 병행하고 있다. 가정과 일의 양립이라는 현실 속에서 볼 때, 큰 틀에서 보여지는 경제적 발전의 성과가 있지만 가정 안에 내재 되어 있는 부모 자녀간 인간관계에서는 여러 가지 충돌과 어려움들이 발생되고 있다. 필자는 현대 가정의 어려움을 부모들이 당면한 과제인 경제 발전에 주력하다보니 부모 자녀간 신뢰와 애틋한 정서들을 소통하지 못하는데서 오는 갈등으로 본다. 자녀 보육에 대한 일차적 책임이 부모에게 있고 사랑과 관심으로 보육된 아이들은 성장하여 자신이 받은 사랑과 관심을 후손에게 대물림 하는데 영향을 준다는 점에서 성숙한 성인들의 의식전환이 요구된다. 조선의 남성우위의 전통사상 속에서 남녀 불평등을 초월하고 높은 덕성으로 자녀들을 모두 훌륭하게 보육한 신사임당의 모범적인 모습을 통해서 현대의 바람직한 부모 됨의 역할을 바라보는 것은 인성을 요구하는 현대의 가족에게 기능적으로 나아가야 할 방향을 제시하고있다.

영문 초록

The objective of this study is to understand desirable parent s role shown by childcare philosophy of Shin Saimdang. Most of people acknowledge that it is worth emulating excellence of childcare philosophy of Sin Saimdang but preceding study on this is not available at home and abroad. In this study, childcare that is one of important family functions is intended to be analyzed and presented through parent nurturing attitude type model of Baumrind based on exemplary childcare philosophy of SinSaimdang. It would be meaningful to analyze her childcare philosophy through Baumrind model in which individual difference was provided in parent s nurturing attitude as such difference was also present in children of Shin Saimdang. The author of this study considers that difficulty of modern family is derived from a conflict of failing to communicate confidence and loving emotion between parent and children as parents are tied up with economic development as an urgent task. Awareness conversion of mature adult is required in terms of the fact that parents are primarily responsible for childcare and children being brought up with love and concern usually pass down such. love and concern to their descendants after becoming adults. Through an exemplary image of Shin Saimdang who nurtured her children respectably with high virtue transcending sexual inequality under traditional sense of male superiority during Choseon era, we could find desirable modern role of parents and it provides modern family requiring personality with a functional direction to be taken in the future.
