｢星曆志｣에 수록된 중국역법 수용과 정약용의 역법관

국문 초록

본고에서는 한치윤(韓致奫)의 『해동역사(海東繹史)』· 성력지(星曆志) 에 수록된 한국의 중국 역법 수용과 중국역법에 대한 정약용의 문제의식 및 역법관을 고찰하였다. 한치윤은 한(韓)·중(中) 역사서 등을 근거로 삼국시대부터 고려와 조선까지 한국에 수용된 중국역법을 정리하였는데, 필자는 이에 대한 변천 내용을 고찰하였다. 아울러 정약용의 중국역법에 대한 역법관을 『중용강의보(中庸講義補)』·『시경강의보유(詩經講義補遺)』·『목민심서(牧民心書)』·『경세유표(經世遺表)』와 『역학서언(易學緖言)』에 실린 기록을 통하여 살펴보았다. 고대 중국은 새로운 왕조를 세운 황제가 역법을 제정하는 정치적 특권과 사명을 가지고있었다. 삼국시대부터 한국은 중국과 교류하며, 역법(曆法)을 전해 받아 역일(曆日)을 사용했다는 기록이 남아있다. 삼국, 고려 조선에서 수용한 중국역법의 종류도 또한 다양하였다. 한국은 오래전부터 역법에서 기록된 오행(五行)과 간지(干支)를 중시하였다. 그러나 한국과 중국은 물리적 거리 차이가 있기 때문에 천문상수의 오차가 생겼고, 한국은 이를 극복하려는 노력은 있었지만 정치적 관계로 인해서 중국역법에 대한 의존도가 높았다. 조선 세종 때에 비로소 이순지, 김담, 정인지, 장영실 등이 자주적인 역법 『칠정산(七政算)』· 내외편(內·外篇) 을 제정하였으며, 이것은 당시의 천문학과 수학 등의 과학적 연구를 토대로 한다. 반면 정약용은 다양한 중국역법의 수용에 대해 의견을 제시하였다. 또한 중국천문학에 포함된 추보(推步)와 점변(占變)의 두 요소가 가운데 점변과 관련된 이론에 오류가 있음을 비판하였다. 효진법(爻辰法), 점성술(占星術), 재이술(災異術) 등과 역법에 포함된 오행과 간지의 활용이 그것이다. 정약용은 이 이론들이 『역』의 근원사상을 제대로 반영하지 못했고, 전통적인 역리사법(易理四法)의 해석법에도 맞지 않는다고 판단하였다. 따라서 다산의 역법관은 그의 역리(易理) 해석과 밀접한 관련이 있으며, 이를 토대로 역법이론에 깃든 사상의 문제를 분석하고 비판하였다는 특징이 있음을 알 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study explore contents and types of the Chinese calendrical calculation system embraced in Korea from the period of three kingdoms up to Goryeo and Joseon dynasty period compiled in 『Headongyeoksa』·｢Seongyeokji｣. Furthermore, the problems and perspectives of Cheong Yag-Yong about Chinese calender system also has been scrutinized in this paper. The entire eigthy five volumes of 『Haedongyeoksa』 was compiled by Han Chi-Yun and his nephew Han Jin-Seo. Cheong Yag-Yong opined that Chinese calender system existed in 『Jungyongganguibo』, 『Sigyeongganguibo』, 『Monkminshimseo』 and 『Gyeongseyoufyo』. Cheong Yag-Yong criticized the analytical errors of Chinese calender system and theories included in it. The newly established dynasty emperor in ancient China had special political rights to implement the calendrical calculation system. From the period of three kingdoms itself, there were many illustrations when the calendrical dates and calendrical calculation system from China granted Korea. Korea embraced the five primary substance and sexagenary cycle in the similar form and it was included in the calendrical calculation system. Korea tried to recover the variations of astronomical constant caused due to geographical changes. However, Korea was politically influenced by China in fields like astronomy and mathematics and natural science was not much developed in Korea. Therefore, Koreans showed enormous interest in chinese calendrical system. During the Goryo dynasty, different kinds of Chinese calendrical calculation system were adopted. In the Joseon dynasty, with the contribution of astronomy scholars like Lee Soon-Ji, Kim Dam, Jeong In-Ji and Jang Yeong-Sil, sovereign calendar system called 『Chiljeongsan』 was enacted. Cheong Yag-Yong analyzed that Chinese astronomy consists of two elements, namely, weather & time prediction and future forecast method. Besides that, Cheong Yag-Yong criticized the elements of future forecast method such as yaochen, astrology, disaster & unexpected change. Cheong Yag-Yong also laid claim that there are discrepancies in the fundamental analysis of chinese calendrical system and it included five primary substances and the sexagenary cycle. Considering his logical perspectives of 『Zhouyi』 as basis, Cheong Yag-Yong proclaimed that it has features of posing questions of Yeokhak theories, trick and fortune not mentioned in 『Zhouyi』 interpretation and analysis method of Chinese astronomy.
